Herbivore Shells are essential Equipment Materials found in Monster Hunter Wilds. Understanding where and how to collect these materials is crucial for players looking to enhance their gameplay. This guide is designed to simplify the process of obtaining Herbivore Shells, ensuring players can acquire this resource efficiently.

While the two primary methods outlined herein should suffice to gather ample Herbivore Shells, it’s worth noting that there may be additional techniques or sources to consider within Monster Hunter Wilds.

Locating Herbivore Shells in Monster Hunter Wilds

Harvesting from Ceratonoth

Players can obtain Herbivore Shells by harvesting the remains of the docile Ceratonoth creatures. These creatures inhabit the Windward Plains, specifically thriving in Areas 1, 8, 11, and 12, which are marked on the provided map. Adventurers should have no trouble locating groups of Ceratonoth within these regions.

Utilizing the in-game map’s filter function can help streamline the tracking process. By selecting “Filter Icons”from the map interface, players can highlight “Small Monsters”and pinpoint the Ceratonoth’s location, allowing them to place a waypoint directly on it.

Once a pack is found, players should draw their weapon and engage. Note that Ceratonoth are likely to scatter upon the first attack, so be prepared to mount a Seikret and pursue them if necessary.

After successfully defeating several Ceratonoths, players can get close to the carcasses and press the appropriate button to harvest materials. Repeat this process until the desired number of Herbivore Shells is collected for crafting.

It’s important to note that while both male and female Ceratonoth yield Herbivore Shells, neither guarantees a 100% drop rate. Occasionally, players may receive Raw Meat instead, but given the size of Ceratonoth packs, players should still accumulate Herbivore Shells rapidly.

Trading for Herbivore Shells in Kunafa Windsong Village

After progressing through the early stages of the main quest, players will unlock access to Kunafa, Windsong Village in the Windward Plains. Within this village, an NPC named Kilama offers a trading opportunity, exchanging Herbivore Shells for Sandpepper. Kilama’s location varies slightly, but she is always marked on the in-game map for easy navigation.

To acquire the Sandpepper needed for trading, players can forage in the Windward Plains, particularly near the water in Area 8, where it appears as green question marks on the map. Additionally, Area 8 is a prime location for hunting Ceratonoth, making it an excellent spot for simultaneously gathering both resources.
