FromSoftware Unveils Exclusive Title for Nintendo Switch 2: The Duskbloods

FromSoftware, renowned for its innovative and challenging game design, has shifted away from exclusive titles in recent years. The last such entry was 2015’s Bloodborne, which was limited to PlayStation platform. However, the landscape is changing with the announcement of a fresh project, The Duskbloods, which will be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.

A Glimpse into The Duskbloods

The debut trailer for The Duskbloods has generated excitement among fans, especially those who appreciated the dark atmosphere of Bloodborne. Even though the new game shares stylistic elements with the beloved title, it is important to note that it does not connect to the Souls series; instead, FromSoftware is venturing into a completely new intellectual property and genre.

Game Mechanics and Features

This title is classified as an online multiplayer action game that aligns with the extraction shooter trend, albeit with a distinctive twist—there won’t be traditional shooting mechanics. In The Duskbloods, players can expect a dynamic PvPvE experience where up to eight participants engage in battles within a blood-soaked fantasy environment.

“Developed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, ‘THE DUSKBLOODS’ is a PvPvE title with online multiplayer at its core, where up to 8 players vie for supremacy among themselves and against challenging foes, ”explains the developer in a press release.“Play as the ‘Bloodsworn’, a group that has transcended human strength thanks to their special blood, and throw yourself into a violent fray for ‘First Blood’ as the twilight of humanity approaches.”

Release Timeline and Exclusivity

The Duskbloods is anticipated to launch in a broad time frame in 2026, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2. Currently, details are sparse regarding the duration of this exclusivity. Should it resemble the path taken by Bloodborne, players on platforms like Xbox, PC, and PlayStation may need to manage their expectations regarding future ports.

Expanding FromSoftware’s Multiplayer Portfolio

Interestingly, this announcement follows another multiplayer endeavor from FromSoftware. The studio is set to release Elden Ring Nightreign later this year, which emphasizes cooperative gameplay and integrates rogue-like features.
