Overview of the Zapotron Issue in Fortnite OG Season 2

  • The Zapotron is reportedly inflicting no damage for some players in Fortnite OG Season 2 on PC.
  • Epic Games claims to have addressed the problem, yet lingering issues remain for certain users after the patch was released.
  • The timeline for a potential fix remains uncertain.

Fortnite enthusiasts have encountered a frustrating glitch: the Zapotron, a rare weapon, is not dealing any damage in the PC version of the game. Bugs of this nature occasionally escape the notice of Epic Games during testing phases, and the Zapotron appears to be the latest casualty of this oversight. Although a patch has been issued to rectify the problem, many players are still experiencing difficulties.

With the revival of the Fortnite OG Seasons, players are immersed in a nostalgic experience. The addition of OG Season 2 has introduced players to beloved locations from the original season, alongside fresh item rotations and cosmetics that add a modern twist. While features like sprinting and healing on-the-go differentiate it from the classic gameplay, many fans still prefer the essence of the older seasons over the current Chapter 6, Season 1. Unfortunately, a subset of these players is grappling with the issue of the Zapotron failing to inflict damage, even when fully charged.

In a recent video shared by Twitter user Guille_GAG, viewers can see their struggles with the Zapotron. The clip features the player aiming the legendary weapon at a stationary target, an Iron Man skin. Due to its rarity, many players anticipate an edge when looting a Zapotron. However, the weapon’s requirement for a charging period before firing poses additional challenges. The footage demonstrates that despite the charge, the player repeatedly fires at the Iron Man character without inflicting any damage. Following this, a Fortnite Status update asserts that the problem had been resolved, yet reports from players indicate that the issue persists.

With the Zapotron’s malfunction, players may find themselves gravitating towards different weapons that offer more reliability, such as common pistols, which could be more effective in combat situations. The need for the Zapotron to charge before firing can already hinder aiming accuracy, but with the ongoing glitch, it becomes even less effective. In Guille_GAG’s video, although the Iron Man character reacts to being shot, visual indicators of damage are absent, highlighting the weapon’s inefficacy. Several community members have speculated that the problem might be related to anti-cheat systems, particularly since console players do not appear to suffer from the same glitch.

As Epic Games continues to roll out updates for Fortnite, it is probable that the Zapotron will undergo further adjustments in future patches or hotfixes. Given the extensive range of weapons available in the current OG loot pool, players might not immediately notice if the Zapotron is temporarily removed for additional repairs.
