Final Fantasy XVI Finally Arrives on Xbox Series X and S

After nearly two years of anticipation, Final Fantasy XVI has officially launched on both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Initial impressions suggest that the wait has proven beneficial, given the impressive nature of the port.

Performance Insights from YouTube Reviews

Recent YouTube videos from The Xbox Tester and Fuzion Xbox Testing have showcased the performance of Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox consoles. The reviews demonstrate that the Xbox Series X version matches the PlayStation 5 counterpart in nearly every aspect, including image quality and performance across the two available display modes. However, it’s worth noting that Square Enix hasn’t upgraded the AMD FSR technology from what was used in the PlayStation 5 version, which aligns with expectations given the timing of the port.

Examining Xbox Series S Performance

While the Xbox Series X performance aligns closely with that of the PlayStation 5, the gameplay experience on the Xbox Series S is particularly noteworthy. Although it comes with some expected constraints, such as a lower resolution and a lock on frame rates at 30 FPS, the game runs smoothly, maintaining a consistent frame rate. Given that the PlayStation 5 version frequently dips below 60 FPS in Performance Mode, the stability of Final Fantasy XVI on the Xbox Series S is a commendable achievement.
