Square Enix recently provided an in-depth look at the creation of Cait Sith’s CGI renders and character models for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. While the character made a brief appearance during Episode INTERmission of the FFVII Remake Intergrade, he takes on a more prominent role in this second installment of the remake trilogy.

The Challenges of Creating a Beloved Character

According to the development team, refining the texture of Cait Sith’s fur posed significant challenges. However, the Square Enix team was ultimately pleased with the final design, achieving a convincing soft-touch aesthetic for his model in FFVII Rebirth. For the character’s close-up bust, the creators drew inspiration from the playful nature associated with plush toys, exploring various poses that evoke the charm of a stuffed animal.

One of the intriguing poses developed involved Cait Sith playfully mimicking cat paws by raising both hands to his ears, creating an endearing expression by tilting his face ever so slightly.
