Introduction to Fia’s Questline in Elden Ring
In the expansive world of Elden Ring, players encounter various NPCs, each with unique quests. Among them is Fia, a poignant character you might remember for her early encounter in the game where she offers to embrace you. Completing her quest not only enriches your experience but also offers access to alternative endings in your journey.
Fia’s questline involves several key items, including the Carian Inverted Statue and the coveted Mending Rune of the Death Prince, which are integral to the lore and gameplay.
Before diving deeper, here’s a spoiler warning related to Fia’s questline in Elden Ring.
Fia’s Quest Overview
- Allow Fia to embrace you after obtaining two Great Runes to acquire the Weathered Dagger.
- Present the Weathered Dagger to D, Hunter of the Dead, and rest at the Site of Grace located in Roundtable Hold.
- Proceed to the room adjacent to Hewg, the Blacksmith, to discover Fia near D’s corpse.
- Continue with Ranni’s quest until you receive the Carian Inverted Statue.
- Utilize the Carian Inverted Statue to invert the Divine Tower of Liurnia and secure the Cursemark of Death at the summit.
- Travel to Nokron to give D’s brother the Twinned Armor and confront the Valiant Gargoyles.
- Use the coffin situated at the back of the Valiant Gargoyles’ arena to be teleported to Deeproot Depths.
- Engage Fia’s Champions in battle in the arena near the Across the Roots Site of Grace.
- Afterward, converse with Fia, present her with the Cursemark of Death, and allow her to hold you to receive the Radiant Baldachin’s Blessing.
- Rest at the nearby Grace and speak to Fia again to enter her deathbed dream.
- Defeat the Lichdragon Fortissax.
- Upon defeating the dragon, collect the Mending Rune of the Death Prince from Fia’s body, concluding the quest and unlocking a unique ending for Elden Ring.
- Finally, you can rest again to obtain Fia’s armor along with the Twinned Armor set and the Inseparable Greatsword from D’s brother.
Initiating Fia’s Quest
Your journey begins with Fia in the Roundtable Hold. Here, you can choose to let her embrace you, which grants Baldachin’s Blessing, a consumable that enhances poise and damage resistance but at the cost of reducing your maximum health until consumed.
While you can decline her offer, the quest typically initiates after accepting her embrace at least once. Should you choose to ignore her, she relocates underground to Deeproot Depths after you burn the Erdtree, where you’ll continue her quest later.
Acquiring and Utilizing the Weathered Dagger
After allowing Fia to hold you, the next steps are not immediately clear. A useful detour involves visiting Summonwater Village in northern Limgrave to meet D, Hunter of the Dead. This village is conveniently located west of the Summonwater Village Outskirts Site of Grace. Be prepared to defeat the Tibia Mariner boss for the Deathroot, which is significant for D’s quest.
Once you’ve acquired the Deathroot, D will subsequently move to Roundtable Hold. It’s advisable to tackle Starscourge Radahn next, as you need two Great Runes to advance Fia’s quest. After defeating Radahn, return to let Fia embrace you, after which she will provide the Weathered Dagger.
The next task is to return this dagger to D at the center of Roundtable Hold. Engage with D, then converse with Sorcerer Rogier for additional information before returning to Fia for the Knifeprint Clue. If you take a break from the game and return, you will find D dead, with Fia standing over his corpse in the area adjacent to Blacksmith Hewg.
Using the Carian Inverted Statue
Your next objective involves obtaining the Cursemark of Death. To do this, head to the Divine Tower of Liurnia and utilize the Carian Inverted Statue at the altar within the Carian Study Hall.
This statue transforms the area into a labyrinthine dungeon that leads you to the Tower’s peak. If you’re yet to possess the Carian Inverted Statue, you must progress in Ranni’s quest until you present her with the Fingerslayer Blade, after which she will reward you with the statue.
At the summit of the Divine Tower, you will find a corpse; loot it to acquire the Cursemark of Death. The next destination is Deeproot Depths.
Engagement with D’s Brother and Twinned Armor
Make your way to the Siofra Aqueduct, located north of Nokron. Inside, navigate to the right, where you’ll encounter D’s brother sitting on a balcony, just before the boss mist.
Engaging with him offers the choice to turn over the Twinned Armor, which may lead to unexpected outcomes, such as him plotting against Fia. Rest assured, you can reclaim the armor if you wish, and even if you choose not to give it to him initially, he will appear later in Fia’s story arc.
Confronting Fia’s Champions
To proceed with Fia’s quest, you must locate her in Deeproot Depths and defeat her Champions. After taking on D’s brother, the path continues to a boss fight against two Valiant Gargoyles. With your Spirit Ashes summoned, maintain caution against their poison-spreading attacks.
Upon defeating them, access the Site of Grace and enter the coffin by the waterfall to be teleported to Deeproot Depths. From here, parkour your way up the tree branches to reach a higher area where another Site of Grace awaits.
Venture around the waterfall, acquiring the map fragment, and search for a small tunnel leading to a vast arena. Here, Fia’s Champions will appear one by one. Be prepared for challenges, especially during the last encounter where additional foes may assist.
Clearing this phase grants you Fia’s Mist and the opportunity to access the Across the Roots Site of Grace, where Fia will appear beside the teleportation point.
Obtaining and Using the Mending Rune of the Death Prince
Engage Fia once more; after a heartfelt conversation, you can choose to agree or request her embrace again, receiving another Baldachin’s Blessing. During her embrace, selecting ‘Talk in secret’ reveals insights about hallowbrands before handing over the Cursemark of Death.
In exchange, Fia grants you the Radiant Baldachin’s Blessing. After resting at the bonfire and speaking with her again, she will bid you farewell and appear to be resting. Interact with her once more to initiate the ‘Deathbed Dream’, where you’ll face the formidable Lichdragon Fortissax.
Once victorious, you’ll receive the Remembrance of the Lichdragon. Returning, you discover Fia seemingly asleep, and you can loot her body for the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince.
Finally, make your way back to Fia’s resting place. You will find D’s brother there too, revealing he has killed Fia, but you can also retrieve her armor.
A final rest reveals that D’s brother has left the Twinned Armor and the Inseparable Greatsword behind. Congratulations, you have completed Fia’s quest! Retain the Mending Rune, as it is essential for fulfilling the Age of Duskborn ending. When you reach the end of the game, use this rune to witness that particular conclusion.
