Overview

  • Dragon Quest 11 S is now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop for a lowered price of $39.99.
  • Square Enix has taken over the publishing duties for this version, replacing Nintendo.
  • This represents the game’s second permanent price reduction.

Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age has made its return to the Nintendo Switch eShop at a newly reduced permanent price. As fans anticipate the next chapter in this beloved JRPG series, Switch players who previously missed out on this title had to be patient for a month while Square Enix executed some updates. Fortunately, the wait is now over, and gamers can enjoy Dragon Quest 11 S at a much more affordable price.

Square Enix officially announced that Dragon Quest 11 S would be temporarily removed from the eShop starting January 31. Following this announcement, users noted that there would be “minor updates”to the game’s listing, which led many to speculate about a change in publisher. Previously, Nintendo held the publishing rights for the Switch version, while Square Enix already managed the releases for Xbox, PC, and PlayStation. This transition echoed similar delistings in the past, such as those for Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy, when Square Enix took over as the publisher.

Now that Dragon Quest 11 S is back on the eShop, it is officially published by Square Enix. Additionally, the game is available at a permanent price of $39.99. Many had speculated a price reduction following the delisting, as Nintendo typically maintains higher price points without frequent discounts. Despite the predictability of this outcome, it’s a welcomed opportunity for new players to experience what many consider one of the finest entries in the Dragon Quest series.

Dragon Quest 11 S Returns to the Switch eShop at Just $39.99

Good news Dragon Questers! DQXI S is once again available to purchase on the Nintendo eShop! Not only that, but it is now available at a permanently reduced price of $39.99/ £34.99/ €39.99. This is not the first instance of a permanent price cut for Dragon Quest 11 S. Notably, Nintendo reduced its price to $49.99 back in 2020, a year post-launch. The latest reduction aligns more closely with market trends, considering the game is several years old. However, it is unusual to see two significant price changes for a Switch title.

Despite the excitement surrounding the return of Dragon Quest 11 S on the Switch at a lower price, the future of the franchise remains uncertain. The time between Dragon Quest 11 and the anticipated Dragon Quest 12 has stretched longer than ever, with the gap continuing to widen. Announced by Square Enix in 2021, little information has surfaced since then. While some fans interpret the price cut as a potential signal for upcoming developments, it may be premature to draw such conclusions.
