Exciting Update for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

Fans of The Elder Scrolls series can rejoice as Bethesda has released update 1.1 for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Initially available exclusively for Steam Beta users since its launch on June 5, this update is now live across all platforms.

Major Fixes and Improvements

This latest update addresses a myriad of technical challenges players have encountered. It resolves critical bugs that previously caused crashes and freezes during gameplay. Additionally, players will find improvements to visual effects (VFX) and gameplay animations. One significant enhancement is the resolution of various quest-related issues, which had the potential to prevent players from completing quests and advancing in the game.

Anticipation for Future Updates

Update 1.1 marks the first of two substantial patches that Bethesda is developing for Oblivion Remastered. The forthcoming second patch will again debut on Steam Beta before rolling out to consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. While Bethesda has yet to provide a specific timeline for the next update, they have indicated that it will be available “in the coming weeks.”

Sales Success Despite Initial Criticism

Despite launching with notable performance issues, Oblivion Remastered has quickly become a best seller. The game played a significant role in Xbox’s sales success in the US market during April 2025. According to insights from Newzoo, the remaster has set a new standard for effectively executing remastered titles.

Community Efforts for Enhancement

For players experiencing unresolved issues and feeling that Bethesda’s progress is slow, numerous modders are actively working to rectify the game’s problems on their own. These community-driven fixes show varying levels of success and enthusiasm among dedicated fans.

A Nostalgic Return to Tamriel

Despite performance concerns, many The Elder Scrolls fans have enjoyed revisiting the classic world of Oblivion. One player noted,

“Enhancing the original where it mattered most while preserving what made it truly unique, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered stands as the definitive way to experience Bethesda’s classic. Although the shift in atmosphere and noticeable performance issues will put some players off, as will the dated gameplay, the game couldn’t have debuted on current gaming platforms in a better way.”
