King Crab
Spawning Method: The King Crab has a natural spawn rate of 0.018% every second (approximately every 90 minutes), provided no other King Crab is actively alive. Alternatively, you can summon it using the Seafarer’s Horn after your initial defeat of the boss.
This boss is widely regarded as the most straightforward opponent in Dig, often serving as a player’s first triumph. It appears sporadically along the coast within the Cinder Shores area and launches aerial coconuts causing 35 damage. Evading its red attack markers requires timely jumping to stay safe.
2. Candlelight Phantom
Spawning Method: This boss has a natural spawning chance of 0.01% every second (around every 2.8 hours), given that no other Candlelight Phantom is present. It can also be summoned using the Phantom Horn after it has been previously defeated.
The Candlelight Phantom is a crucial early challenge for obtaining an essential shovel upgrade. Located in Rooftop Woodlands, where the Spore Spade shovel can also be located, it boasts an impressive 65, 000 HP. Often requiring teamwork for effective takedown strategies, the boss employs attacks such as Phantom Spikes, which can inflict considerable damage if players linger in their path.
3. Fuzzball
Spawning Method: Fuzzball can be summoned exclusively by interacting with the Mysterious Flower found in Verdant Vale, which appears naturally with a 2.5% chance every 20-100 seconds (averaging around every 40 minutes).
As a tricky opponent, Fuzzball requires players to activate the Mysterious Flower without prior server notifications. Despite having the least HP of all bosses, its omnipresent attack can force players to evade continuously. The Fuzzball’s shockwave attack can deal 50 damage, limiting the number of safe hits from your shovel.
4. Giant Spider
Spawning Method: This formidable foe can only be summoned using the Webs Horn>, which is acquired from the Combat Guild after defeating five bosses.
The Giant Spider, found in Spider’s Keep within Cinder Cavern, cannot spawn on its own; players must use the Webs Horn in this specific location. It employs two main attacks: Slam and Web Beam, both of which can deal significant damage, emphasizing the necessity of effective dodging to extend your survival during the encounter.
5. Basilisk
Spawning Method: Naturally appearing with a 0.009% chance every second (approximately once every 3.1 hours) unless another boss is actively present, or it can be summoned using the Toxic Horn after defeating it one time.
Before battling the Basilisk, players must complete 50% of the Cinder Island journal and achieve at least level 20 to obtain the Cinder Ferry ticket. Once in Copper Mesa, the Basilisk can spawn randomly or can be summoned using the Toxic Horn. This reptilian enemy boasts a significant 95, 000 HP, emphasizing the importance of strategic positioning to avoid spikes that can inflict damage.
6. Molten Monstrosity
Spawning Method: Engage with this boss by simply holding the Blue Moon horn, available at Tiki’s Shop located in Alona Jungle.
Hailed as one of the toughest encounters in Dig, the Molten Monstrosity is located in Mount Charcoal and requires Magma Boots to traverse its lava-laden surroundings. Notably, the summoning procedure demands that the horn be held rather than activated. With a daunting 350, 000 HP, this massive foe necessitates teamwork and careful management of its area attacks, which can deal significant damage if unsuccessfully dodged.
7. Dire Wolf
- Spawning Method: The Dire Wolf appears one minute after the occurrence of the Blood Moon event.
This limited-time boss can only be summoned during a Blood Moon, which unfolds every four hours. With a formidable presence at the elevator in Cinder Cavern, it boasts 100, 000 HP. Adequate support, robust shovels, and attack-enhancing charms are critical for a successful battle against it.
The Dire Wolf issues fire breath and spike attacks, necessitating keen reflexes to avoid damage successfully. Players can anticipate its strikes by observing the wolf’s howls, making it easier to dodge incoming blows.
Methods for Spawning Bosses in Dig
Bosses in Dig randomly spawn at consistent intervals, meaning patience is essential while digging through different areas. Upon the arrival of a boss, an exclamation mark appears on your screen with notifications indicating the boss’s presence nearby.
Additionally, certain bosses can be manually summoned using designated horns specific to each boss. However, it’s required that players first defeat these bosses to earn their respective horns at the Combat Guild in Fernhill Forest.

Strategies for Engaging Bosses in Dig
Boss battles in Dig involve a distinctive combat mechanic, occurring within a circular arena that outlines the boss’s attack range as well as the effective range for your shovel hits. Here are some key strategies to maximize your success during these encounters:
- As a foundational strategy, consider inviting friends to your gaming session, particularly unless you’re equipped with high-damage tools like the Beast Slayer Shovel.
- As the battle commences, step inside the circle, keep your shovel ready, and attack with the left mouse button.
- Be vigilant of the enemy’s attack patterns indicated by red markers to avert damage.
- In response to incoming attacks, utilize the jump key and maneuver to a safe zone, ideally stepping outside the circle temporarily.
- Continuously watch your health meter in the top right corner of your screen; if it depletes, enhancing your defensive tactics becomes crucial.
- Each boss exhibits specific animations or sound cues before attacking, serving as a crucial alert for dodging opportunities.
The overarching objective is to engage within the circle, land several hits with your shovel, and retreat when necessary to avoid damage. Continue this cycle, and you’ll conquer the bosses, earning valuable XP, currency, unique stickers, shovels, and rare items as rewards.
During these engagements, consider utilizing various damage-enhancing or health-regaining charms. Employ parry and healing charms strategically to minimize your exposure to danger. Combining multiple healing charms can reinforce your survivability, and to amplify your damage output, don’t forget to leverage the Monarch totem or consume buffs like the blueberry cupcake that enhances damage against bosses.
