Eidos Montreal’s Continued Interest in the Deus Ex Franchise

Despite the recent setbacks, Eidos Montreal appears to remain committed to the iconic Deus Ex series. Reports indicate that the studio has submitted proposals for a new installment to various publishers, but, unfortunately, these overtures have not yielded positive results.

The Status of New Pitch Attempts

During a recent episode of the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, it was disclosed that following the cancellation of a previously planned title—part of Embracer Group’s restructuring—Eidos Montreal sought to re-envision the franchise. The studio approached multiple publishers with a completely new concept for a Deus Ex game. Regrettably, the response was lukewarm, with some publishers deeming the series too niche to warrant investment.

Challenges Facing the Franchise

Given the current landscape, where publishers are increasingly hesitant to take risks, as noted by analyst Tom Henderson during the podcast, it seems Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will remain the last entry in the series for the foreseeable future.

The Legacy of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

The conclusion of Mankind Divided may not have been ideal, yet it remains a remarkable title within the RPG genre. Critics and fans alike recognize its engaging storytelling, complex choices, and immersive cyberpunk atmosphere. Leaving this game omitted from your collection could be a disservice to any RPG enthusiast.
