Among these, several demanding boss encounters arise throughout the journey, utilizing Atlus’ beloved turn-based combat mechanics reminiscent of those found in Persona 5.

One of the initial boss encounters players can face in Metaphor ReFantazio is with the Fire Dragon, Mauna. Before engaging in combat, it’s advisable to procure some ice chunks and gather healing items to aid in the fight. At this stage of the campaign, the party consists only of the Protagonist, Strohl, and Grius, so it’s crucial to select compatible archetypes for the battle. Here are our recommendations:

  • Protagonist: Opt for the Seeker Archetype, which comes with the Dei spell—an effective healing option during battle.
  • Grius: The Mage Archetype is recommended to utilize the Blizz spell, taking advantage of the Fire Dragon’s ice vulnerability.
  • Strohl: We suggest the Warrior Archetype to maximize the potential of the Diagonal Slash attack.

Be mindful that obtaining the ideal archetypes may require sufficient cash and MAG, which might necessitate some in-game grinding to gather enough resources.

Tactics to Overcome the Fire Dragon Mauna
