Event Overview: Deep Rock Galactic’s Lunar Festival

  • The Lunar Festival kicks off on January 30, featuring a variety of themed cosmetics, gameplay bonuses, and festive decorations.
  • New assignments will reward players with exclusive headgear and past Lunar New Year cosmetics, highlighting a player-centric philosophy.

As we approach the Lunar New Year, Deep Rock Galactic fans can look forward to an exciting celebration designed by Ghost Ship Games. This event promises to usher in the Year of the Snake with an array of themed cosmetics and compelling in-game bonuses, allowing players to immerse themselves in the festive spirit.

Maintaining a robust player base into 2025, Deep Rock Galactic continues to attract fans with its unique blend of adventure. The game showcases the antics of space dwarves, rock mining, and thrilling cooperative gameplay. While Season 6 is anticipated to launch in the latter half of 2025, development efforts are currently directed toward the new rogue-lite venture, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core. Nevertheless, Season 5 remains actively engaging its dedicated fanbase with ongoing updates and content.

Celebrating the Year of the Snake

The Lunar Festival is set to commence on January 30 at 13:00 CET, giving players a two-week window to participate until February 13. Players will have the opportunity to discover hidden Golden Serpent statues throughout the event, which will grant a double-performance point bonus for the entire team. The Space Rig will transform into a vibrant celebration space adorned with new lanterns and decorations, while explosive firecrackers will add excitement as players enjoy their antics in the game. Additionally, fans can look forward to bringing a piece of the celebration into their homes with the release of Deep Rock Galactic replica beer mugs.

New Headgear and Player Assignments

Players will have access to two new assignments during the festival, allowing them to unlock both fresh and nostalgic cosmetics. Completing the Lunar Festival 2025 assignment rewards players with the “Serpentine Special, ”a charming festive helmet designed for all character classes, encapsulating the essence of the Year of the Snake. Additionally, the “Last Year’s Blessings”assignment offers players a chance to unlock previously missed cosmetics from past Lunar New Year events all at once. This initiative underscores Ghost Ship Games’ commitment to a player-first strategy by reopening pathways to earlier unlockable content, an approach that was also evident when Season 5 allowed players access to older Battle Passes, thereby alleviating the typical pressures associated with live-service gaming.

In addition to the festivities, players can seize the opportunity to sign up for the GUNTOUCHABLES Closed Alpha Playtest, which starts on January 29. This new cooperative roguelike horde shooter, developed by Game Swing and published by Ghost Ship, is slated for release later in 2025. Interested participants can register for the Alpha testing on the GUNTOUCHABLES Steam store page.
