Koei Tecmo has released a festive New Year card for the Dynasty Warriors series on its official Japanese X account. This card features heartfelt messages from the producers, outlining their aspirations for the upcoming year, which marks a significant milestone: the 25th anniversary of the beloved franchise.

As highlighted by producer Akihiro Suzuki, the 25th anniversary will be officially celebrated on August 3, 2025. This date commemorates the launch of Dynasty Warriors 2, the first title in the series to debut on the PlayStation 2 in Japan on August 3, 2000. Although Sangoku Musou, the very first installment released for the PlayStation 1 on February 28, 1997, is recognized as the anniversary for the Omega Force studio.

In addition to the forthcoming release of Dynasty Warriors Origins for various consoles, Omega Force is poised to mark the fourth anniversary of the mobile iteration of the game. Launched in March 2021 for Android and iOS platforms, this mobile game continues to engage players. The studio has pledged to unveil additional celebratory projects in the lead-up to the anniversary month, amplifying excitement for long-time fans.

Producer Tomohiko Sho shared insightful details regarding the significance of 2025 being the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac, a symbol representing renewal and transformation. In alignment with this theme, the New Year card features striking artwork showcasing Zhang Fei, famed for his iconic Viper Spear, alongside the protagonist from Dynasty Warriors Origins. This illustration serves as a poignant homage to the upcoming game’s release.
