If you’re familiar with titles like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, or Zenless Zone Zero, you might assume that Destiny Rising’s artifacts function similarly; however, there are notable differences.

At their core, artifacts are unique items that players can equip to gain specific advantages. Each character has four designated artifact slots, with each artifact being restricted to a particular slot. For instance, both Bellicose Precession and Bellicose Pact are restricted to Slot 3, requiring strategic selection based on their benefits for your character.

Every artifact guarantees a base bonus—like Bellicose Precession, which enhances your rate of fire after hitting enemies five times—but they also feature randomized attributes. These random traits might include boosts to healing or enhanced defenses. While new players can focus on acquiring artifacts, optimizing for ideal attribute rolls becomes more critical as you reach higher difficulties and pursue Exotic-grade artifacts.

Note that not all artifacts are compatible with every character. Certain artifacts are locked from use based on the character’s weapon type. For example, if your character cannot utilize spread or summon weapons, then those related artifacts will be off-limits. Each artifact has a detailed information panel signaling its compatibility, but amid the deluge of information in Destiny Rising, it’s easy to miss this important check.

Understanding Artifact Set Bonuses

Artifact set bonuses in Destiny Rising can be somewhat confusing and are often inadequately explained. Unlike other games, such as Genshin Impact, where artifacts are classified into defined sets—like Bloodthirsty or Bellicose—Destiny Rising establishes set bonuses based on artifact categories such as spread and summon. This means that set bonuses are aligned more with the type of artifacts rather than levels.

Additionally, set bonuses do not improve as your artifacts level up. Instead, these bonuses escalate by reaching milestones through leveling up attributes across your equipped artifacts. This means that players utilizing Mythic or Exotic artifacts—which boast a greater number of attributes—have an easier route to unlocking higher-tier bonuses.

Acquiring Artifacts in Destiny Rising

Artifacts can be purchased via institute bundles; however, this is not considered the most effective method for acquiring them. Instead, the primary and most fruitful approach for obtaining artifacts in Destiny Rising is completing Singularity: Chaos challenges within the Realm of the IX, utilizing pinnacle energy to receive a random selection of artifacts. For a more tailored approach, players can use Challenger’s Wish, allowing for more focused drops, although this does not guarantee optimal attribute rolls.

Participants can earn Choice Engrams through the completion of Singularity: Order challenges, with Tier IV challenges yielding Legendary Choice Engrams and Tier V challenging rewarding Mythic Choice Engrams.

After finishing the main campaign and unlocking acclaim leveling, players can aim for Exotic-grade artifacts. Additionally, participating in the weekly endgame activity known as The Expanse provides a chance to earn a chest containing an Exotic Artifact.
