Clair Obscur Expedition 33: Choosing Between Sciel or Lune for Your Romance

In the game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players are presented with a compelling choice: to pursue a romantic relationship with either Sciel or Lune. It’s worth noting, however, that choosing one character means you cannot pursue the other in the same playthrough.
This dilemma may leave you contemplating your decision, but the silver lining is that your choice of romance does not drastically impact the main storyline. In this article, we will explore the distinct experiences of romancing Sciel or Lune in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, along with guidance on how to successfully navigate each romance path.
Should You Romance Sciel or Lune?
Prior to delving into the specifics of each romantic storyline, it’s essential to emphasize that your choice will not alter the overarching narrative. The romance mechanics in the game are primarily designed for roleplaying enjoyment.
The dynamics between Verso, the protagonist, and the character you choose to romance will evolve during interactions at camp, fostering a deeper emotional connection. For instance, choosing to pursue Sciel leads to memorable moments like a “romantic”encounter and a swimming lesson date.
However, it’s important to note that even if you consistently select the favorable dialogue options with Sciel, the relationship ultimately concludes, leaving Verso and Sciel as friends. Conversely, if you opt for Lune, players will uncover layers of her backstory, particularly her complex feelings about her parents. Verso’s support helps Lune navigate these emotions, culminating in a more positive romantic development.
Lune’s relationship with Verso offers a more optimistic trajectory than that of Sciel, hinting that the two will continue their romance through creative collaborations, such as music-making. Given these contrasting outcomes, it seems prudent for players to favor Lune for a more satisfying romantic arc.
How to Romance Sciel
To develop a romantic connection with Sciel in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you must achieve Relationship Level 4. This requires regular dialogue with her during camp and defeating the initial Axon. Once you’ve hit this level, respond to her invitation for an evening adventure with “Do you even need to ask?”.
After conquering the second Axon, selecting “I feel used, but I like it” will further progress your romance, bringing you to Relationship Level 5. Following the defeat of the Paintress, a discussion at camp will reveal Sciel’s desire for an overnight adventure. Opt for “Let’s celebrate” to finalize the romance.
How to Romance Lune
If you prefer pursuing a romance with Lune, it is crucial to politely decline Sciel’s invitation during Relationship Level 4. Instead, focus on reaching this level with Lune after defeating Renoir at the Manor. During this phase, the appropriate response is “It’s not like we have private rooms here. So, sure, knock yourself out.”
After dispatching the second Axon, converse with Lune at camp and choose “Maybe we could play together sometime?” to transition to Relationship Level 5. To further the romance, travel to the east side of Sirene’s Island, where you will find an entrance to play music.
Completing this section entails a boss fight with the Chromatic Glissando. Once defeated, collect the Expedition 46 journal and listen to it before returning to camp to achieve Relationship Level 6 with Lune. Following this, you can easily progress to Relationship Level 7 by agreeing to assist her with a song by choosing “Sure, I’d love to help you with your song.”
