South of Midnight: Comprehensive Notes Guide for Chapter 12

Chapter 12 stands out with a total of 19 notes, making it the chapter with the highest concentration of collectibles. Successfully gathering all these notes simplifies the journey into Chapter 13, which contains only two notes. Additionally, players should note that the final chapter does not feature any collectibles.

Notes Locations

Here is a detailed list of where to find each of the 19 notes within Chapter 12:

  1. Should I Leave? – Right at the chapter’s start, proceed along the main path until you encounter a signpost indicating various directions. To its right, on a tree stump, you will find the first note.
  2. Should I Stay? – After proceeding toward the Town on the Tapestry twice, a carriage accompanied by a ghostly warthog will appear. This note can be found on the same stump where the first note was located.
  3. The Record Keeps Skipping – Upon entering the carriage, which appears larger inside, locate this note next to the gramophone at the hallway’s end.
  4. Milk and Sugar, Love? – A few steps from the last note, this one is found beneath a massive family portrait displayed on a silver tray alongside a tea set.
  5. Ring, Ring – Continue deeper into Roux’s carriage, and you’ll discover this note attached to the handlebars of a tricycle, only a few steps away from the last note.
  6. Roux’s Limerance – Ascend to the second floor of Roux’s carriage, where this note is located on a table at the top of the staircase, right next to a stuffed turtle.
  7. The Hungry Maw – This note is found stuck to a red refrigerator on the right side of the room from the previous note.
  8. Still Stars Don’t Remember – After the initial combat encounter, this note is located to the right within the arena, next to a movable box that conceals a Floof knot.
  9. Joe Goodfellow, 74 – Prior to entering the wind tunnel, observe the previous note’s area to discover this note adhered to a door to the right of a window revealing the echo of an elderly man on one knee.
  10. The Many Little Things – Upon utilizing the wind tunnel and wall-running to a new platform, turn left to find this note resting on a lawn chair.
  11. Hollowed Love – Just ahead of where you collected the previous note, this one is found on a table on the left side of the balcony.
  12. Spit It Out – Continue following the guiding strands while utilizing the next wind tunnel. Upon landing, turn right; you’ll spot a health filament in the distance. Navigate around the building on the right side of the street to locate this note on a nearby table.
  13. Ella Mae, 7 – Follow the guiding strands until you reach a neon sign for Gouldeau’s Jazz. Instead of proceeding straight, jump down to a lower platform on your right. Ascend the stairs ahead, and you’ll find this note attached to the second door on your right, adjacent to another window showcasing the echo of a girl praying in her bed.
  14. I miss, I miss, I miss – Facing the door where you found the previous note, turn around and look down to spot an echo of a platform you can conjure. Jump to that platform, then use your grapple to return to solid ground and retrieve this note sitting on a table behind a Floof knot.
  15. Would Be Beautiful – After encountering a second combat challenge, proceed until Hazel interacts with another ghostly spirit. At this point, turn around to see a sign for the ‘Mesmerizing Roux’ you can pull. By pulling it and leaping to the platform it reveals, then take a left to find this note alongside a Floof knot.
  16. Tempest Hamlin, 42 – Continue along the path from where you found the last note, and you’ll discover this note stuck to a door on your left side, near a sign advertising Roux’s show and a window showcasing the echo of a woman bowing repeatedly.
  17. Passage – After using the first massive gear within the clock tower to elevate to the next platform, you’ll find this note across a gap on a table next to a box of gears that you can pick up and throw.
  18. I’m Trying – As you climb higher in the clock tower and use your grapple to land near an elevator shaft, continue along the main path by leaping through the hole in the giant gear. You will find this note on a stool along your route, next to a gear leaning against the wall and illuminated by a light above it.
  19. You Gotta Release It – Following the combat encounter at the clock tower’s peak, step outside. Just before entering the wind tunnel, turn left to find this note resting on a box, with a Floof knot just steps away on the patio’s edge.

By faithfully executing this guide, you will successfully collect all 19 notes in Chapter 12 of South of Midnight. If you’ve been following the guidance thus far, you’ve amassed 101 of the 103 total notes in the game, leaving only two more to discover in Chapter 13.
