Beat Blade Phantom: A Guide to Defeating Khazan, the First Berserker

Having fled from the convoy, Khazan finds sanctuary in Stormwind, thanks to the Bantu. Quimuk emphasizes that to overpower the entity that possesses him, Khazan must face the trials set in the snow-capped mountains. These trials are designed to challenge players with three unique weapon playstyles, where they must learn and adapt to various new mechanics.
Upon completing the main pathway, players encounter the formidable Blade Phantom, a significant escalation from the introductory boss, Yetuga. This boss fight promises to test players’ skills thoroughly as it requires impeccable timing with blocks and parries to navigate its relentless barrage of attacks. For those facing difficulties against this adversary, this guide provides a comprehensive overview of Blade Phantom’s attack patterns, effective strategies for defeating it, and the rewards that await after this challenging encounter in The First Berserker: Khazan.
Blade Phantom Attack Overview In The First Berserker: Khazan
Players will find the Blade Phantom in the vicinity of the Battered Blade Nexus located within the Tempest Cliff region. After successfully navigating through the trials, ascend the slope, traverse the wooden bridge, and continue through the mountain’s cut pathway. Here, the Blade Nexus awaits, adorned with statues, allowing players to recover health, enhance their stats, and trigger the boss cutscene.
Attack Description How To Avoid Phase 1 6-Hit Combo The boss unleashes a 6-hit sequence consisting of four punch attacks followed by two kicks, with slight delays aimed at disrupting your defensive timing. Dive Kick Blade Phantom initiates with a kick and follows up with a powerful dive kick after leaping into the air. Dual Blades Combo The attack begins with a red slash warning, after which the boss launches into a rapid 6-hit combo, easily countered with a Brink Guard. Grab & Stomp Blade Phantom may cancel his combos to initiate a grab, with an audio cue indicating this mode. Regardless of the success of this grab, he will follow up with a foot stomp, generating spikes around him. Greathammer Slam In this attack, the boss conjures a greathammer and charges at you to slam it down, resulting in spikes erupting from the ground. Spear Jab The boss retreats momentarily to summon a spear, which he then jabs toward you. Phase 2 Claws & Spear Throw The second phase begins with a multi-hit claws attack, followed by a leap and a spear throw that erupts shortly after, creating spikes. Greatsword & Greathammer Combo Blade Phantom uses a greatsword for a multi-hit attack, then summons a greathammer to slam down, resulting in further spikes. How To Beat Blade Phantom In The First Berserker: Khazan
It’s advisable to conserve your healing resources for the second phase when the boss adopts a more aggressive style, launching relentless attacks. Mastering the Dual Blades Combo is crucial—perfectly guarding against this series can significantly deplete the boss’s stamina, preparing him for a successful Brutal Attack.
Throughout this encounter, remember to utilize your Skill Tree. Activate several Spirit Skills to bolster your performance in battle. The skill I found particularly beneficial is Ruthless from the Frenzy category. It utilizes one Spirit to inflict significant damage on the boss, especially effective when executed before a Brutal Attack.
As soon as the second phase kicks in, watch closely for the Claw attack, which can be swiftly followed by the spear throw. The boss may teleport to your position afterward and unleash a series of combos with his greatsword. It’s recommended to have at least a couple of healing items on hand for this phase. Additionally, keep an eye out for his spear throw followed by a leg stomp, both of which can be effectively blocked.
Unlike the earlier confrontation against Yetuga, defeating Blade Phantom allows you to earn Skill Points and Lacrima based on your damage output. This provides a unique opportunity: even if you fall in battle, you can refine your stats and acquire new abilities at the Blade Nexus.
