Release Date Update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The highly anticipated installment in Ubisoft’s esteemed Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, has encountered yet another delay, pushing its release from February 2025 to a new date of March 20, 2025. This postponement comes on the heels of a previous delay that shifted its original launch from November 2024 without prior notice.

Reasons Behind the Delay

Ubisoft’s decision to extend the release window aims to address critical player feedback and enhance the overall gaming experience. Marc-Alexis Coté, the franchise lead, expressed the team’s commitment to delivering a polished product that meets fan expectations. In a recent social media update, he stated:

“While we’ve already made remarkable strides, we believe a few additional weeks are needed to implement that feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and engaging day-one experience.”

Focus on Quality and Player Experience

This announcement reflects Ubisoft’s determination to shift public perception regarding their recent launches, especially following a challenging financial period. Star Wars Outlaws, another significant title for 2024, underperformed in sales, prompting the company to prioritize quality for Shadows, as they aim to attract a broader audience.

Company’s Strategic Changes

In light of these challenges, Ubisoft is undergoing substantial changes, such as ending its exclusivity program for PC stores. Going forward, players can expect Ubisoft titles to be available on Steam on launch day, alongside the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect.

Looking Ahead

As fans await the new release date, Coté reiterated the company’s commitment to fostering a dialogue with players to ensure a high-quality gaming experience. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to immerse players in the rich world of Japan, where they will step into the roles of Yasuke and Naoe within an engaging stealth RPG framework.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on multiple platforms, including PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
