Resident Evil Franchise Expanding to Nintendo Switch 2

Recent insights from renowned Capcom leaker Dusk Golem reveal exciting news for Resident Evil fans. Not only is Resident Evil Requiem set to launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, but Capcom reportedly plans to introduce native ports of all Resident Evil titles developed on the RE Engine for the new console.

Details on the Ports

In a conversation regarding the potential ports, Dusk Golem emphasized that these will not be mere Cloud versions accessible on the Nintendo Switch 2. Instead, gamers can anticipate authentic native ports, enhancing their gaming experience. However, those currently playing on the original Switch may have to settle for Cloud versions unless they decide to upgrade to the new hardware.

(1/2) Yee, they’ve been working on porting all the RE Engine Resident Evil games to Nintendo Switch 2 for a hot minute now. Requiem should be landing on Nintendo Switch 2 as well. There’s grapevine rumor that there’s a Nintendo Direct this week & RE7 is going to be there at least https://t.co/fQw5WBjDXz

Anticipated Announcements

Adding to the excitement, Dusk Golem hinted at the possibility of announcements during an upcoming Nintendo Direct. They suggested that Resident Evil 7 might feature in this presentation, stating, “I have heard very reliably several times now they’re all coming to Switch 2 sooner or later, and that does include Requiem (so RE7, RE:2, RE:3, Village, RE:4, Requiem).” However, specifics on release dates remain uncertain.

Current Resident Evil Lineup on Nintendo

At present, the Nintendo platform hosts several classic Resident Evil titles, including:

  • Resident Evil 0
  • Resident Evil
  • Resident Evil 4
  • Resident Evil 5
  • Resident Evil Revelations
  • Resident Evil Revelations 2
  • Resident Evil 6

However, major titles such as Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, and Resident Evil Village are currently restricted to Cloud versions.

Looking Ahead

If announcements confirming Resident Evil VII: Biohazard for Nintendo Switch 2 materialize in the forthcoming Nintendo Direct, it would bolster Dusk Golem’s credibility. Fans eagerly await to see how this will unfold. Stay tuned for updates this Friday!
