Avowed, like many role-playing games (RPGs), boasts a sophisticated leveling system intertwined with its skill tree and character attributes. Throughout your adventure in the Living Lands, the actions of the Envoy will consistently earn experience points (XP), contributing to your progression. However, this leveling journey is finite; players will eventually reach a level cap where further XP, ability points, or attribute points can no longer be earned. In this guide, we will explore Avowed’s maximum character level and how many attribute points players can accumulate during their journey.
Understanding Avowed’s Leveling System
The leveling system in Avowed comprises three core elements:
- Experience Points
- Ability/Skill Tree Points
- Attribute Points
Ability Points
With each level gained in Avowed, players receive one Ability Point to invest within the skill tree. This tree is segmented into three distinct categories: Fighter, Ranger, and Wizard. A fourth section is dedicated to Godlike Abilities, which are unlocked through main story missions and interactions with Avowed’s Ancient Memories rather than through Ability Points.
Each section of the skill tree provides unique abilities catered to specific character builds. The Fighter specializes in melee combat, the Ranger excels in ranged attacks, stealth, and exploration, while the Wizard harnesses magical power. Importantly, players have the flexibility to combine abilities from different trees to customize their characters effectively.
Attribute Points
In addition to Ability Points, players earn Attribute Points every two levels after reaching level 10. These points can be assigned to the Character Attribute table, which consists of:
- Might: Enhances Damage and Maximum Carry Weight
- Constitution: Boosts Maximum Health and Resistance to Poison/Bleed
- Dexterity: Increases Attack Speed and Action Speed
- Perception: Elevates Critical Hit Chance and Maximum Range
- Intellect: Increases Maximum Essence and Elemental Resistance
- Resolve: Improves Maximum Stamina and Second Wind Efficiency
At the outset, players can set their initial attribute levels based on one of Avowed’s five character backgrounds. Subsequent attribute increases will come from gained Attribute Points, Companion Training, and specific gear acquired throughout the game.
Determining Avowed’s Maximum Character Level
Presently, players can achieve a maximum level of 30 in Avowed. While this may initially seem limited, the journey to level up is gradual. For instance, our initial character only reached level 27 after completing every quest—both main and side—and finishing all tasks in each area. Nevertheless, achieving level 30 feels sufficient, thanks to the thoughtful design of Avowed’s skill tree.
Max Attribute Points
Starting with the points allocated at the beginning of the game, players can accumulate a total of 27 Attribute Points to distribute throughout their adventure. Moreover, the game allows for extensive character customization; players can respec as often as desired by investing in-game currency through the Character menu, with no restrictions on the number of resets.
