The “Cabin Fever”quest represents one of the initial side missions that players can encounter upon reaching the bustling docks of Avowed. Engaging with Dehengen sets off this compelling storyline, and before diving deeper into it, players must navigate the western regions of Dawnshore to advance.
As you progress through this side quest, you’ll unearth an astonishing connection between Dehengen and a particular Xaurip—a creature native to the Living Lands known for its troublesome behavior.
Triggering the Cabin Fever Quest in Avowed
Upon your arrival at the docks and activation of the fast-travel Beacon, players will spot a couple of merchants nearby. To the right, a distressed woman named Dehengen is anxiously searching for a Watcher. Engaging in conversation with her will officially commence the Cabin Fever quest. Appearing overwhelmed, Dehengen reveals that her home has been invaded by Xaurips, and her pleas for assistance have largely gone unheard.
To move forward, players should track the marker on the map, guiding them to Dehengen’s cottage. Perched on a cliffside, the cottage is accessible via wooden pathways that lead down to the beach. Once at Dehengen’s Cottage and the Beacon is activated, prepare for a confrontation as you face the Xaurips inside her home. Following the battle, a mural portraying a human and a Xaurip together will catch your eye.
Before you leave, take a moment to scour the area for valuable items. Inside Dehengen’s private room, you can access her journal which indicates that a specific Xaurip has been observing her in a seemingly friendly manner.
Exit Dehengen’s cottage and proceed south, where you will notice a Xaurip leader wandering without hostility. Although you can attempt to speak with it, don’t expect a verbal response. Armed with this knowledge, return to Dehengen to assist her in making a key decision about her future.
Should You Encourage Dehengen to Embrace Her Soul Twin?
Upon reconnecting with Dehengen, discuss the contents of her diary and the aloof Xaurip leader. Here, she reveals that she has been told about her soul twin—that it might indeed be the Xaurip leader. Conflicted and uncertain, Dehengen seeks your guidance on how she should proceed.
Advise Dehengen to Follow Her Heart
If you encourage Dehengen to follow her heart, she ultimately decides against pursuing a relationship with her soul twin. This choice leads her to a life of solitary reflection, during which she grapples with a sense of loss and may later regret her decision. Unfortunately, your guidance will not yield any rewards.
Convince Dehengen to Give Her Soul Twin a Chance
Alternatively, if you persuade Dehengen to embrace the opportunity with her soul twin, the quest reaches a fulfilling conclusion where both characters coexist harmoniously. This rewarding route grants players the unique Vindictive Band accessory—a ring that inflicts poison damage with each critical hit, adding a valuable asset to your gear.
