Sony’s Shift: Optional PSN Accounts for Select PS5 Games on PC
In a significant move for gamers, Sony has announced that starting January 30, 2025, a PlayStation Network (PSN) account will no longer be obligatory for playing specific PlayStation 5 (PS5) titles on PC platforms. This change coincides with the highly anticipated launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC.
Key Changes to Gameplay Accessibility
This announcement was made through a post on the PlayStation Blog, where Sony elaborated on the implications for PC versions of popular titles such as Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and God of War Ragnarok. The upcoming ports, including Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part II Remastered, will now allow players to engage without needing a PSN account. Instead, players will be motivated to log in via the promise of in-game rewards.
In-Game Incentives to Enhance Engagement
The rewards for signing into a PSN account encompass an array of enticing bonuses: players who opt to log in will receive two unique suits for Spider-Man 2, a resource bundle alongside an early unlock for an armor set in God of War Ragnarok, and a distinctive outfit for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Additionally, The Last of Us Part II Remastered players can look forward to exclusive jacket skins and unlock points.
