Overview of Recent Developments in OnlyFangs Guild

  • Pirate Software was expelled from the OnlyFangs guild following a disastrous Dire Maul North run that resulted in Hardcore deaths.
  • The player’s refusal to accept responsibility for the incident led to his dismissal by Guild Master Sodapoppin.

Pirate Software, a notable player within the World of Warcraft community, has faced repercussions after his involvement in a failed run in Dire Maul North, culminating in his removal from the streamer guild known as OnlyFangs. This dungeon, added to the Anniversary servers of the game, has already been linked to several deaths among Hardcore players.

Prior to the official launch of Hardcore servers in August 2023, players had crafted their own guidelines for zero-death runs. The introduction of the Hardcore servers sparked a wave of interest that waned until the recent launch of Anniversary servers in November 2024. These servers have revitalized interest in World of Warcraft Classic, though they have also been the stage for countless player fatalities. Recently, players Sara and Snupy became casualties in this tough environment, leading to conflicts within the guild.

Following the incident, Guild Master Sodapoppin publicly announced Pirate Software’s removal from OnlyFangs via a statement on Discord. The message reflected a collective discomfort among guild members who felt uneasy playing alongside Pirate Software after the deaths occurred during their run. The group had engaged a boss and defeated a pack of Gordok ogres, but when a member suggested disengaging to reset the enemies, Pirate Software chose to abandon the team instead of assisting in the escape.

The predominant criticism directed at Pirate Software is his refusal to accept accountability for the demise of his fellow players due to ineffective use of crowd control abilities. Prominent Twitch streamer Sodapoppin highlighted how a simple maneuver—casting Blizzard rank 1 to slow enemies—could have mitigated the situation without significant mana expenditure. Additionally, streamer Mizkif raised concerns, suggesting that Pirate Software’s expulsion was due to threatening fellow streamers post-run, reinforcing the toxicity that can sometimes permeate competitive environments.

As the OnlyFangs guild navigates its new landscape after being reestablished on the Anniversary server Doomhowl, it is expected that other guild members may form their own groups inspired by the changes. With Blizzard continuing to enhance World of Warcraft Classic with updates that reflect Vanilla gameplay, it remains to be seen how this might affect player mortality and community dynamics in the face of new challenges.
