Overview of New Trading Currencies in Pokémon TCG Pocket
- Recent leaks indicate the introduction of two new trading currencies in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
- Green hourglasses will serve as a trade currency, replenishing every 12 hours.
- The second currency is known as “feature artwork tokens, ”linked to card rarity and trade requirements.
A recent leak regarding Pokémon TCG Pocket has unveiled exciting news: the introduction of two new currencies for trading cards. This long-awaited feature allows players to trade cards, helping them complete their collections by obtaining the elusive ones they lack.
The announcement regarding trading mechanics for Pokémon TCG Pocket surfaced earlier this month, corroborating previous leaks that hinted at the trading system being restricted to specific card rarities. While there was speculation surrounding the potential use of Shinedust—previously thought to serve a purpose beyond merely unlocking visual flairs—the latest information suggests a different route will be taken concerning trading features.
According to Twitter user PokeGirlLauren, players will use green hourglasses for trading. Each trade will consume one hourglass, functionally similar to Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Wonder Pick system. Players will then have to wait, as these hourglasses regenerate every 12 hours. The second currency, termed “feature artwork tokens, ” will determine how many tokens are needed for trades based on the rarity of the involved cards, but details on acquiring them remain unclear.
Community Reactions to New Trade Mechanics
The recent revelations about trading currencies have sparked mixed reactions within the Pokémon TCG Pocket community. A significant concern revolves around the potential monetization of the game, as some players fear that access to these new tokens may be overly restricted. Meanwhile, other community members expressed surprise that Shinedust won’t play a role in trading, particularly given its similarity to Stardust in Pokémon GO. A post from a Redditor speculated that the developers aim to create a free trading environment while simultaneously encouraging players to keep purchasing packs to maintain engagement across both features.
Previously, players anticipated the arrival of trading features by the end of January, and developers have confirmed that this functionality will go live on Tuesday, January 28. This update paves the way for the highly anticipated second set of cards, set to launch on January 29. While the first set focused on Pokémon from Kanto, the upcoming set, titled “Space-Time Smackdown, ”will highlight creatures from Sinnoh, introducing exciting new cards, including ex variants of legendary figures like Palkia and Dialga.
