Monster Hunter Wilds Guide: Acquiring Sinister Cloth for the Death Stench Armor Set

In Monster Hunter Wilds, players have the opportunity to discover various secret armor sets, with each set requiring unique core crafting materials before they can be crafted. One notable material, Sinister Cloth, is essential for creating one of the most visually striking armor sets in the franchise.
Unlike previous titles, obtaining Sinister Cloth isn’t as straightforward as hunting monsters or gathering parts like Nerscylla Claws. This unique crafting material is relatively easy to acquire, but it can easily be overlooked if players aren’t aware of the right methods.
How to Obtain Sinister Cloth in Monster Hunter Wilds
Sinister Cloth is a unique crafting resource that cannot be found in gathering spots or through hunting quests. Instead, players can acquire it through two main methods: by engaging with Village Intermediaries or by trading with NPCs.
Engaging Village Intermediaries
Village Intermediaries are NPCs specifically designed to gather resources and materials for players passively. They serve as an upgrade to the Ancient Tree and Tailrider Safari mechanics from earlier installments in the series. If you need medicinal supplies or materials for capturing monsters, these intermediaries are invaluable.
Murtabak from Kunafa has a chance to obtain Sinister Cloth during his expeditions, but his offers only become available after completing the Continuing Conflict side quest. It’s important to note that the chances of acquiring Sinister Cloth this way are rather low.
Trading for Sinister Cloth
Gawdygog, stationed in the Wudwud Hideout within the Scarlet Forest, offers a distinct trading approach. He exclusively requests
, a Rare Special Item, in exchange for Sinister Cloth.
To acquire Sinister Cloth from Gawdygog, players need to gather a significant number of Ancient Wyvern Coins. Fortunately, there is a method to farm an unlimited supply of these coins. It is also crucial to remember that NPC trader inventories refresh periodically, so it’s advisable to frequently check back with Gawdygog or consult Nata about available stock.
Additionally, Kilama from Kunafa may offer Sinister Cloth on rare occasions, but her trade often involves other Special Items like Windward Aloe.
To refresh trader inventories, players can utilize the Rest option available in their tent.
