- Capcom is actively addressing critical bugs to enhance the gaming experience for users.
Monster Hunter Wilds, the highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s Monster Hunter World, has made history by selling over eight million copies globally within a mere three days following its launch. This milestone positions it as Capcom’s fastest-selling title to date. As the first major installment in the beloved RPG series in over seven years, the game has sparked immense excitement among fans.
The excitement leading up to the release of Monster Hunter Wilds was unparalleled, especially during its open beta sessions that began in October 2024. The interest peaked significantly when the game officially launched on February 28, 2025, for PC and the latest PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Acclaimed by critics, Wilds quickly gained traction and not only set new records within the Monster Hunter franchise but also etched its name in the annals of Capcom’s entire game catalog.
As of March 4, 2025, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds had officially become its fastest title to reach the eight million sales mark. This achievement came shortly after the game witnessed a substantial influx of players on Steam and performed exceptionally well on the PlayStation Store. With the retail price set at USD $69.99 across all platforms, these sales figures indicate that Capcom has generated over half a billion dollars in revenue. Notably, Monster Hunter Wilds has already surpassed one-third of the total sales of its predecessor, Monster Hunter World, which reached 21.3 million units by December 2024.
New Sales Milestone: Monster Hunter Wilds
While the sales performance of Monster Hunter Wilds is commendable, the PC version is experiencing notable technical challenges. This is reflected in its “Mixed”rating on Steam, where only 58% of the feedback from approximately 64.7K users is favorable. Players have reported various issues related to performance and stability, which detracts from the overall experience.
In response to these challenges, the Capcom development team has been proactive in issuing updates to resolve the reported bugs. A recent patch specifically addressed a game-breaking issue that hindered players’ progress beyond a certain chapter in the game, showing Capcom’s commitment to improving the gaming experience.
