CAPCOM’s Monster Hunter Wilds Achieves Historic Sales Milestone
This morning, CAPCOM unveiled impressive sales figures for its latest game, Monster Hunter Wilds. In just three days since its debut, the title has made waves by selling over eight million copies, catapulting it to the status of the fastest-selling game in the company’s remarkable 45-year legacy.
Building on Previous Successes
The game’s meteoric rise in sales is hardly surprising considering the strong anticipation generated by its predecessors, Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise. Over the recent weekend, Monster Hunter Wilds achieved a peak concurrent user count of 1.38 million on Steam, placing it among the top five games ever on the platform.
Mixed User Reception
Despite its commercial success, user reviews have been somewhat lukewarm, sitting at only 58%.Many players cite performance issues on PC as a primary concern. Currently, there has been no official word from CAPCOM regarding any plans to enhance the game’s technical performance, although several community-developed mods have emerged to address these issues.
A New Era for the Franchise
Monster Hunter Wilds represents a significant advancement of the gameplay mechanics introduced in Monster Hunter World, establishing itself as one of the standout entries in this beloved series. While veteran players may notice a shift in challenge levels and performance on PC could see improvements, the game distinguishes itself through accessible onboarding, a captivating main campaign, meticulously designed maps and monsters, and refined combat mechanics. This makes it an essential experience for both long-time fans and newcomers.
Leadership Changes at CAPCOM
In notable company news, CAPCOM has promoted Ryozo Tsujimoto, a key figure in the franchise’s success. Effective April 1, Tsujimoto will succeed Yoichi Egawa as the executive corporate officer and chief product officer, a move likely inspired by the outstanding sales performance of the series.
