As part of the transition, Microsoft will facilitate the signing in to Teams using existing Skype credentials, enabling a smooth migration of contacts and chats. Furthermore, users will have the opportunity to export their Skype data before the platform is fully retired. Monthly Skype subscription services will be discontinued, although remaining Skype credits will remain usable within Teams. Recent reports indicated that Microsoft had approximately 36 million active Skype users—a stark contrast to its peak of 300 million.
