Marvel Rivals Reaches 40 Million Players Milestone; Upcoming Patch to Introduce NVIDIA DLSS 4 and AMD Radeon Anti-Lag 2

Marvel Rivals Surpasses 40 Million Players in Exciting Update
In the latest Q4 earnings report from NetEase, we learned that the popular title Marvel Rivals has achieved an impressive milestone, exceeding 40 million players globally across various platforms.
Remarkable Launch Success
Since its launch on December 6, Marvel Rivals quickly ascended to the top of Steam’s global sellers chart, gaining over 10 million registered players within just 72 hours. The game’s success continued with its Season 1 update in January 2025, which contributed to another surge in players and solidified its position as a leader in both Steam’s top sellers and most-played lists worldwide.
Financial Impact and Support Changes
Remarkably, the game had already exceeded 20 million players within the first eleven days of its release and reportedly generated over $135 million in its initial month. However, not all developments were well-received; NetEase made headlines by disbanding its Western support team, a decision that disappointed many fans. Despite the shift in workforce to China for cost-effective development, the company’s commitment to actively support this successful game remains intact.
Exciting Updates Coming Tomorrow
Fans can look forward to an update tomorrow that will introduce the final two members of the Fantastic Four: the Human Torch and The Thing. The Human Torch will be classified as a Duelist, while The Thing takes on the role of a Vanguard. Additionally, this update will unveil a new Convergence map titled Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park, along with several enhancements in gameplay and matchmaking:
- Grace Period Adjustment: An additional 0.5 seconds of grace time will be implemented at the end of overtime in all game modes, preventing abrupt game endings caused by certain hero abilities and minor misalignments.
- Quick Mode Update: Matchmaking for substitutes in Quick Mode will cease when a quick match is nearing its conclusion.
- Performance Enhancement: Improved loading speeds at the start of matches will enhance overall player experience.
Technical Advancements in the Update
On the technical front, this update for Marvel Rivals introduces support for NVIDIA DLSS 4, including Multi Frame Generation for the GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs on PC. The feature has undergone testing and was positively reviewed as part of the evaluation of the GeForce RTX 5090.
Improvements for AMD Users
AAMD users will also benefit from the update, which enhances frame pacing when utilizing FSR 3 Frame Generation, leading to a more seamless gameplay experience. Moreover, the introduction of AMD Radeon Anti-Lag 2 aims to reduce system latency for gamers, provided they are using an AMD Radeon RX 5000 Series or newer GPU.
