Major Weapon Adjustments Coming to Monster Hunter Wilds

Overview of Monster Hunter Wilds
- Monster Hunter Wilds introduces expansive open-world biomes, complemented by the innovative Seikret mount for enhanced hunting adventures.
- Significant adjustments have been made to weapon mechanics, prioritizing balance and functionality such as unlimited firing capabilities.
- Players can participate in a collaborative event with Monster Hunter Now, offering unique bonus items leading up to the game’s launch in February 2025.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set to elevate the acclaimed Monster Hunter series, with director Yuya Tokuda and art director Kaname Fujioka sharing insights on the extensive weapon modifications planned for its release. As the eagerly awaited successor to 2018’s Monster Hunter: World, Wilds is poised to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, carrying forward the franchise’s legacy with new features that enhance the player experience.
In early announcements, Capcom revealed the impending second beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds, scheduled for February 2025. This test will include previously featured content, a new monster hunt, and allow character progression carryover, enabling the development team to polish the gameplay according to player feedback. Notably, participants will encounter the Gypceros during this beta, with all players receiving an OBT 2 Bonus Item Pack to transition into the full game.
In a recent interview with IGN, Tokuda and Fujioka highlighted the evolution of the game’s 14 unique weapon types, emphasizing the necessity for innovation with each installment. The new mechanics will eliminate the need for players to restock ammo back at base after missions, which influences the Bowguns and Bows. Tokuda elaborated, “We balanced it around the idea that things like normal, pierce and spread ammo for Bowguns and coatings for Bows can fire unlimited times while managing your gauge.” This strategic redesign aims to streamline the hunting process.
Weapon Enhancements in Monster Hunter Wilds
Anticipation is building among fans regarding the return of popular weapons such as the Great Sword, Long Sword, and Bow, while the Dual Blades continue to be favored by long-time players. The introduction of the Focus Strike mechanic adds a unique powerful attack tailored for each weapon, while a new wounds system ensures that monsters experience lasting damage throughout the hunt.
Leading to the game’s launch at the end of February 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds enthusiasts can take advantage of a collaborative event offering exciting bonuses. The exclusive Monster Hunter Now x Monster Hunter Wilds promotional event invites players to complete specific quests in the mobile game to earn valuable rewards, including a gift code for in-game items such as Mega Potions, Energy Drinks, and Dust of Life, among others.
