So Tarisland is shutting down, and I don’t think many people would argue that it wasn’t done dirty in some ways. The game was always very clearly World of Warcraft From Wish Dot Com, and being a temport usually means that a game is not exactly overflowing with creative verve. In that spirit, the fact that Tencent seemed to forget that it even had released the game before a completely anodyne “oh, right, we’re shutting this down” should come as no real surprise.

But it is also kind of a slap in the face to players who did enjoy the game and the designers who worked on the title. And that’s worth noting.

As I just mentioned, temports by their very nature usually seem as if they’re just rushed out the door to briefly capitalize on something before being widely forgotten. That being said, sometimes it definitely feels like a game that was always on the back foot gets kneecapped by its release from the start. Even when a title was always going to be seen as a temport, you don’t need to advertise that as a company. So which temport MMORPG has been done dirtiest by its owners?
