Did you know you can hide during nighttime away from your campfire and avoid the vicious wrath of the main antagonist, the deer? This guide tells you all the places where the Deer can’t reach in 99 Nights in the Forest. With the mutant menace out of the way, you’ll have a bigger problem to face in its absence…

Places Where The Deer Can’t Reach in 99 Nights in the Forest

After night 1, the Deer becomes aggressive at night and will stalk and attack any players who aren’t by the campfire. However, when exploring, it’s easy to lose track of time and end up in the wilderness after dark.

Towers

Towers have small saferooms high in the sky and are fitted with a balcony. Per game, not many spawn, so it’s good to locate them in advance. Their main challenge is getting up the winding staircase with the deer on their metaphorical tail. Until you’re further up, the deer can reach you and therefore kill you.

Tall Rock Formations

Unlike Towers, these spawn all across the map in abundance. If you spam jump on the shortest part of the rock, you should be able to climb it and get out of reach of the deer.

The main downside to this strategy is that the rocks aren’t entirely reliable, and it’s an uneasy night when the deer is snarling within inches of where you’re waiting. Plus, crossbow cultists can easily target and hit you on such a small platform.

Branches

Similar to the rocks, you can somewhat climb the big trees and shuffle your way onto their branches to hide out for the night. It’s a little safer than the rocks since cultists have a harder time reaching you, but you’re definitely still a little vulnerable.

Stronghold

The best of them all is the Cultist Stronghold! Once within this area, days pass, but threats neutralise whilst you take it over. This means once you’ve cleared out the existing cultists, you can camp here for a while and survive nights with relative ease.

The Deer Isn’t A Threat Anymore, But…

The game seems to know when you’re trying to exploit height advantages over the Deer. So, as a repercussion, you’ll have wolves spawned on your location no matter where you are within the map.

This means you can’t safely AFK anywhere except the campfire. So, if you’re caught away from the camp when night arrives, try out one of my listed methods to help survive, but don’t rely on it long-term for AFK progress.
