How To Catch Nukes In Fisch Guide

Ordinarily, the idea of being anywhere near a Nuke would be unsettling. However, during the Forsaken Shore update, Nukes have added themselves to the catch roster as a sought-after possession. Found anywhere randomly, Nukes have a low catch chance and no material or rod preference (unfortunately not even the Magnet Rod).

When reeled, unlike the typical fish minigame, a new one triggers in its place where the player holds and balances the Nuke intending to keep it steady in the green. Failure results in the Nuclear launch, and success lets the player keep the Nuke to use anywhere and anytime in the future.

When A Nuke Launches

When launched purposeful or accidental, the Nuke begins a Nuclear Event within a radius of where it set off. During this, every fish caught will have the Nuclear Mutation applied. As expected, the fish appear radioactive and bright green, not to confuse with the visuals of the Fischfright ghastly mutation.

Despite the event, no special rod is needed to fish in the now-tainted waters surrounding the Nukes explosion. So, feel free to use your best rod and hope to reel in those high-rarity catches since every Nuclear fish is worth twice its base value!

Best Places To Trigger Nukes

Now, you’re free to ignore this and fish anywhere, but if you want to impress other players I recommend unleashing a Nuke and fishing at the following:

  • Snowcap Island – The Colossal Squid, whilst incredibly rare, has the highest spawn rates around this icy island. With the Nuclear Event, you’re guaranteed a Nuclear Colossal Squid assuming one hooks.
  • Roslit Bay – Around the corals, the Mythic Manta-Ray peacefully swims around. It’s not too hard to catch and sells for a lot with no mutations applied, but would look nice and sell for tons more if Nuclear.
  • Shark Events – Whilst not exactly a location, imagine how cool it’d be to trigger a Nuke and catch a Great White Shark from the deep ocean after its spawn report.
