Grow a Garden Mutations - How to Get Mutated Crops

Our Grow a Garden Mutations guide discusses how to get mutated crops, what they are, and how to create mutation chances.
Grow mutated crops for more in-game cash in Grow a Garden! Similarly, we have a guide on Fisch Mutations, which kind of work the same… and kind of don’t.
Grow a Garden Mutations
All about mutations!
What are Mutations?
Mutations in Grow a Garden are rare variants of your crops! There aren’t many mutations in the game right now, so don’t expect to see wild ones like you do in Fisch. Larger crop size is not a mutation, so keep that in mind. Larger crops just sell for more in general! If a plant has a mutation, you can tell by its altered appearance, such as the Gold mutation.
All Mutations
- Wet
- Applies when it rains
- Sells for 2x more
- Gold
- 1% chance
- Sells for 20x more
- Rainbow
- 0.1% chance
- Sells for 50x more
- Frozen
- If the crop has the Wet status after rain, and then the Frost event occurs, the crop becomes Frozen
- Sells for 10x more
- Choc
- Via Chocolate Sprinkler during the Easter event
- Sells for 2x more
- Shocked
- Applies when the Thunder event activates, but the crop must be struck by lightning
- Sells for 50x more
- Chilled
- Applies when the Frost event activates
- Sells for 2x more
How to Get Mutations
They are randomly occurring, so there’s no telling when you’ll get one! They sell for more, which makes them highly valuable, so make sure to keep an eye out for any crops that look different.
To better your chances of getting mutations, I recommend purchasing and growing the evergreen crops that continue to grow even after you harvest them.
For example, in the early game, strawberries and blueberries are affordable and keep growing! The next crop you should focus on is tomatoes. They take a little longer to grow but they always come back after harvesting.
Gear
Additionally, you can purchase gear like Sprinklers to increase your chances. The better the gear, the more likely you are to obtain crops that have mutations. Specifically, the Advanced Sprinkler and Godly Sprinkler have a passive ability that boosts the mutation chance of your plants for five minutes.
Weather Events
Certain weather types, also known as Weather Events in Grow a Garden, can boost your chances of getting mutated crops. The rain event gives your crops a chance to gain the Wet mutation! These events are random with no way to know when one will occur.
