Fisch Fish Radar Guide

You’re able to score a Fish Radar as early as Moosewood Island (Starter area). This green tracker sits atop a small rock beside the Boat Merchant on the beachfront of Moosewood. That said, it hardly has a beginner-friendly price since it fetches for 8000C$!

What Does The Fish Radar Do?

On use, the Fish Radar creates small visual cues for where you’re more likely to find different types of fish. That said, this doesn’t guarantee that fishing in these faux hotspots guarantees catching the fish you’re hunting. The areas become marked with a colour and the name of the species most abundant within its radius.

The Fish Radar can be quite nifty if you’re struggling to find a particular species needed for quests, selling, or Beastiary completion. For example, the early-game quest “Angler” given at Moosewood requires the player to find a Bluefin Tuna. Using the Fish Radar, you’d easily find the waters most preferable to the Tuna surrounding Moosewood without the hassle of monotonous grinding in different spots. Plus, the Fish Radar will show the areas of Mythical rarity fish which is the only way to cheese their preferred spawn areas.

Is It Worth It?

Ultimately that’s for you to decide, but I think it’s only worth spending so much on the item if you’re after a certain fish for a quest, completing your Beastiary, or when you’re later game and 8000C$ feels like spare change. The price for its payoff isn’t enough in my opinion. The item is expensive, and whilst it does highlight areas of interest, you’re never guaranteed an easier time grinding for certain fish types.

Edit: I’ve bought my own Fish Radar and I can honestly say it’s one of the better investments I’ve made. Arguably, I’d prioritise buying this as soon as you’ve gotten a better rod early in the game. It’ll show numerous hotspots across all the islands including Legendary and Mythic spawn preference areas.
