What Is The Best Food In 99 Nights in the Forest
Cake
Cake doesn’t replenish a lot of saturation, but it’s a decent food source thanks to immediately giving the player +15 health when consumed. It’s also not too tricky to get if you plant farm plots, as it has a chance of being one of the growable crops.
That said, the Cake isn’t my best food pick. That title instead belongs to the…
Stew
You cook Stew using food that you gather from the wilderness and place into the crock pot. The best Stew recipe, in my opinion, is the carrot stew, as it’s easily renewable and doesn’t require any hunting if you place down farm plots.
It’s really efficient, and also equips to your hotbar, meaning you won’t waste sack space if you take it on your travels. The Carrot stew is cheap to make and offers a lot of hunger replenishment as well as warmth during cold weather.
Why Better Food Is… Well… Better!
Your hunger bar, as seen on the left, naturally drains throughout your campaign. But more than just for saturation, your hunger bar is impacted anytime you sprint. When full, you can run for longer, reaching the furthest corners of the map much quicker than if you briskly strolled.
However, the more it drains, the bigger the risk you face, and if you run out of saturation entirely, you’ll die of hunger. This is why choosing a better food source increases your survivability and efficiency. It’s easier to cook a pot of stew using a few carrots than to stockpile and eat roughly 15 of them for the same amount of replenishment.
