What do the Type Soul Vows do, and how do you get them? If you’re trying to unlock your True Mode, you can have a read of our True Bankai Requirements walkthrough for Type Soul, even if you don’t use Bankai!

Type Soul Vows

Soul Vows are passive abilities that can strengthen your build.

How to Get Vows

You can get any of the four vows by speaking to the Bamboo Hat Man NPC. To find this NPC, you must head to Ring 3, one of the new locations within Hell. If you’ve explored this area already, you’ll be aware of the maze.

As you wander through this maze, you can find the Bamboo Hat Man NPC. You can battle against him in exchange for a Stream of Reiatsu. If you win the fight, you obtain a random Vow.

However, players have reported that it is possible to obtain the Vow of Sacrifice via Soul Wars, and the Vow of the Fist is obtainable via Ranked matches.

Vow of Fist

After reaching a DMG threshold, you gain access to the inner gates. The more gates you unlock, your HP depletes, but your DMG gets a buff. This Vow only works with Hakuda, and not submode, Bankai, Vol, and Res.

Vow of Potential

When you are tagged in combat at the start of a battle, all of your stats receive a -15% debuff. However, as you deal DMG, take DMG, dodge attacks, and parry attacks, an ‘aura’ builds around you. The more the aura grows, the higher the buffs to your stats – it scales!

As the aura reaches max, all of your stats get a 10% buff. This vow also features music, which you can roll for. Your aura scales with the speed of the music. Once the music is at a normal pace, and not slow, you know your aura has reached max.

Vow of Luck

As you reach a DMG threshold and successfully perform an attack against an opponent activates one of two effects:

  • The first is Bankrupt, which depletes your Reiatsu
  • The second is Jackpot, which increases the DMG of each move by 5%

Vow of Sacrifice

You summon a spirit of yourself that performs moves after you do – they have to be specific moves, though!. However, your submode does not work with this Vow. It has a total cooldown duration of 8 seconds, and it’s important to keep in mind that the DMG and Posture of the spirit are reduced.
