Type Soul True Bankai Requirements - True Mode Unlock Method

What are the Type Soul True Bankai requirements? They take you through the layers of Hell. For more on your Bankai, read our Bankai Progression guide for Type Soul.
Type Soul True Bankai Requirements
First off, you need to locate an NPC called Qas J. Ward. His name appears if you turn the markers on with the comma key on your keyboard! He stands in front of large gates that are decorated with skeletons. After speaking with him, he opens the gates, which teleport you to The Highway in Hell.
The Highway Quests
In this second location, you must find an NPC which looks strangely like a demon.
Find the Shards
The demon asks you to find 4 missing shards, and once you collect them, you can head back to the demon to speak with it once again. Many players recommend turning the quality of your graphics all the way down to 1, as this helps you to find the glowing white shards much more easily.
While exploring The Highway, try to avoid the enemy that wanders around, as they have the chance to one-shot you.
Hide and Seek
The demon then wants to play hide and seek. It quickly teleports away, and your task is to search The Highway for it. To find the demon, you have to wander around the location until you spot it.
Once you manage to find it, speak with the demon, as it tells you to find a white gate. Again, explore The Highway until you see the gate! From here, you just have to follow the path which leads you to a boss arena.
Weakened Gate Guardian Boss Fight
The boss you must battle against is the Weakened Gate Guardian! It isn’t the most difficult fight, and you’re able to use your Mode to deplete high amounts of HP. After defeating the boss, you obtain Book Fragment 1, and you are teleported to Ring 1.
Ring 1
After teleporting to Ring 1, what do you have to do?
Hell Mobs
When you first arrive in Ring 1, you have to speak with the Tiger Sozosei NPC, who can be found by pressing the comma key on your keyboard. He tells you to defeat a total of 120 Hell NPCs or complete 40 Ring 1 Raids. The former is much easier, so ignore the latter.
You can find Hell NPCs across Ring 1, so you shouldn’t struggle too much. The worst part is getting 120 of them! If you’re unsure how many you’ve defeated, you can speak with Tiger Sozosei again to check your progress.
Once you kill 120 Hell NPCs, you must speak with Tiger Sozosei.
Boss Fight 2
Use the comma key on your keyboard to see the location of the NPC called ‘1’. After speaking to this NPC, a boss fight begins. Luckily, you can have up to two other players join you for this battle. As the boss fight begins, you no longer have access to your Mode; however, the boss can use Mode against you. As long as the boss is defeated, you can all progress forward.
Upon defeat, you obtain Book Fragment 1 and are teleported to Ring 2.
Ring 2
Next up is Ring 2!
Hitozosu of the Wind Boss
When arriving in Ring 2, follow the path ahead. You eventually find another boss that you must fight, called Hitozosu of the Wind. This battle isn’t too difficult, so it should be over and done with quickly. Once defeated, you obtain Book Fragment 3.
Hiragana of the 2nd Ring Boss
Continue along the path ahead and jump across the stone platforms that look like hands. Drop down and then climb across the wall that has multiple eyeballs. Jump to the opposite platform and follow the path to more stone hands.
So that you don’t get lost, just keep focusing on climbing upwards. Eventually, you find a sculpture of a jaw with sharp teeth. Walk inside the sculpture to spot an NPC called ‘2’. This is once again another boss fight. Try not to get defeated, otherwise you’ll have to fight the Hitozosu of the Wind boss again.
After defeating this boss, you get Book Fragment 4, a Cracked Medallion, and are teleported to a new area.
Fixing the Medallion
Once here, press the comma key to see the location of the NPC, Blair. Speaking with her results in the Cracked Medallion getting fixed. This unlocks your True Shikai/Shcrift/Partial! Speak with Blair again, who then summons a senkaimon, which you can enter, taking you to Ring 3.
Ring 3
Another layer of Hell.
Boss Fight 5
Search for the Yin NPC by using the comma key. You don’t have to speak with him, as you must walk past him and then head to the right until you see a swirling tornado below. Jump into it!
Next, search for the NPC called ‘3’. Again, you must defeat another boss, and you have access to your Mode. Defeating him rewards you with Book Fragment 5. You are teleported to a location where you can find a Hell Gate (the gate with skeletons from the start of this guide).
The Maze
Walk through the Hell Gate to enter a maze. A woman then appears on your screen, and you must not move your character. If you do, you lose HP. After she disappears, it’s time to find a gate within the maze. Beware, though, as the woman appears intermittently. It’s not clear if the maze is different for all players, but the main piece of advice is to keep to the left as much as possible.
Library Book Answers and Order
Once you find the glowing green gate, walk through it, teleporting you to The Library. Throughout the library, you must search for 5 books. You must enter the correct answers, which are:
- Power Unmatched Book
- Answer: My Power is Absolute
- One With the Blade
- Answer: The Blade is Me
- Strength of the Soul
- Answer: My Soul Never Wavers
- Faith in Self
- Answer: I Believe in My Fist
- Story of the King
- Answer: I Worship the King
Correct Order
After selecting the correct answers in the books, you must then push the books in the correct order, which is as follows:
- I Believe in My Fist
- My Power is Absolute
- I Worship the King
- The Blade is Me
- My Soul Never Wavers
Once you push all the books in the right order, a message appears on your screen. If you open your inventory, you can see that you have a Library Gate in the Special section. But first, you need to head back to Ring 1, which you can do by using the Hell Ring Key in your inventory.
Ring 1 AFK
Now for the last step, and the one that most players are unhappy with, is to go AFK in Ring 1 for 5-30 hours. Yep, that’s right. Some players state that it is between 5 to 25 hours, whereas others have had to remain AFK for 30.
You’re waiting for a message to appear on your screen that reads ‘One last thing. Figure it out’. After you see that message, you need to be knocked out by another player or an NPC. When your HP depletes to 0, your Mode automatically activates, unlocking your True Mode.
