Type Soul Battle Royale
Type Soul now has a battle royale mode! It pits you against a group of 30 other players in a free-for-all, which kind of feels like the standard Type Soul experience…
As with all battle royale games, there’s always a meta. So, the more time people spend in matches, they start to recognise which abilities are the strongest compared to others. As of right now, Wind is one of the best moves to use because you can grab enemies and knock them back.
How to Enter the Battle Royale
To join the battle royale mode, load up the game as usual. Instead of clicking the ‘Play’ option on the main menu screen, click the ‘Battle Royale’ button underneath ‘Matchmaking’. You are then teleported to the servers for this mode. You can queue up as a solo player or join in with a party. Depending on how many people are currently waiting to get into a match, you may be waiting a few minutes.
Battle Royale Tips
When you fall from the sky, you have no weapons, and only your fists to defend yourself. Use these tips to familiarise yourself with the maps and how to boost your strength!
Red Pillars
The red pillars sprinkled across the map offer up resurrections for your Shikai and Schrift abilities.
Blue Pillars
You use Blue Pillars to unlock new moves from different skill trees for your character during the match.
Pads
The pads appear in different variants throughout the map. The colour determines the skill tree that gets a buff!
- Blue
- Buffs your Speed skill tree
- Purple
- Buffs your Hakuda
- Green
- Buffs your Kido
Gold Chests
The boxes that glow with a golden hue are essentially treasure chests! Open these boxes to obtain accessories.
Unlocking Weapons
If you’ve played a battle royale game before, you’ll know about the process of finding new weapons. There are various weapons found across the map for you to pick up! They will be of differing rarities, so try to search for a rare one.
Battle Royale Rewards
Upon winning a match, as well as participating in one, you earn Tokens at the end. These Tokens are used in the battle royale shop, which is accessed by speaking to the NPC standing by a wall. He wears a black and white outfit with a crown of antlers, whilst holding a staff.
When interacting with him, you have the option to ask him what’s on offer to purchase and ‘Something Special’. The latter costs 200 Tokens, which is a bit of a mystery right now! However, here’s what you can buy from the shop:
