The Korean Orc player June "Lyn" Park were looking good for the final. Defeating Infi already in the group stage, the odds were on the SK-Gaming player's side. While he continued to dominate in the playoffs, after wins against fellow Orc brother Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen, he was raised as the favorite.
But Infi proved he was among the top contenders for the title, after a convincing 2-0 conquest over Jae Ho "Moon" Jang in the semi finals.
The two faced off on Echo Isles, where both players expanded in safety. Infi, World Elite's current top Human player, produced tons of gryphons and was able to push back Lyn before the Orc's tier three base was built. Losing his burrows, and later on his expansion due to the minimum unit count, Lyn was forced to type out.
Second map, Twisted Meadows, Infi went for an early tower push. Timing the push correctly as Lyn was out creeping, the Chinese player positioned his towers well and were defended by footmen and water elementals. Lyn tried pushing the towers back with his Blademasters and mercenaries, but Infi pulled through. Not even an attempt to go Demolishers was enough for Lyn to raze Infi's towers. Infi was in a position he could not lose, thus forcing Lyn to admit defeat.
Infi was happy with the win, and commented on his feelings in the final. "The decisive victory was on Twisted Meadows. I made some slight modifications to the usual strategy so I was able to hit level 3 smoothly."
Grubby claimed the bronze medal after defeating his team mate Moon in the match for third place. Grubby commented that "third place is a decent finish. As WEM only had 8 top players in it, any small mistake on my part could spell doom for me," said Grubby.
Moon, reaching fourth place, just like last World E-Sports Games, was sad after the tournament. He commented: "I am disappointed with my performance. I made numerous mistakes and I hope that I can play better in future."
