SoJu and Grubby advance from Group B in NiceGameTV War3League after using Pandas with style. SoJu went 2-0, while Grubby edged out a win over suhO in the loser bracket final.
The first group gave us an upset as the reigning champion failed to advance. In the second group, played out yesterday, the runner-up of last term, Grubby, entered the tournament.
Game 1: Grubby vs. suhO @ Snow Drop
The Dutch Orc player went up against World Elite's Night Elf suhO in the first game, played on Snow Drop. suhO trained lots of druids of the talon, supported by the Demon Hunter, Beastmaster and Tinker trio. Grubby went for the nowadays standard Spirit Walker, Raider, Grunt combo with Blademaster and the Tauren Chieftain as heroes. suhO had the upper hand during the maps, much thanks to his Boots of Quel'Thalas on his demon Hunter, and good mana burn usage. Grubby failed to use his invulnerability potion in a effective manner in the start, and came behind when his batriders were too slow out.
Game 2: SoJu vs. InFi @ Melting Valley
The other half of the bracket gave us SoJu versus InFi. SoJu went for the Pandaren Brewmaster on Melting Valley, while InFi went for the regular Archmage. SoJu effectively levels up his Panda and later on Demon Hunter. InFi opted for steam tanks and mass towers, but it was not strong enough against SoJu's superheroes.
Game 3: suhO vs. SoJu @ Twisted Meadows
The two Night Elf winners, suhO and SoJu then clashed in the upper bracket final match, in a fashioned mirror match. Demon Hunters and Naga Sea Witches roamed the grounds of Twisted Meadows. In a clash in the middle of the map, SoJu is able to micromanage his low on health Demon Hunter impressively, and instead kills suhO's Naga and Demon Hunter. After this, SoJu is in a good position and has the upper hand with better hero levels, and decides to go for the attack.
Being able to take out building after building, and even mana burns suhO's Naga to death, SoJu goes for the win. While suhO has a couple of talons to defend with, they aren't worth much as he missed upgrading them to adepts. Another win in the list for SoJu, who qualified to the next round seemingly easy.
Game 4: Grubby vs. InFi @ Neo Lost Temple
Hoping to follow the footsteps of SoJu; InFi and Grubby battled it out on Neo Lost Temple. Grubby picks Farseer as his first hero, which gave him a lot of chance to harass InFi's base with wolves. Grubby's second hero, the Pandaren Brewmaster, crippled InFi a lot too. InFi's manner human strategy with riflemen, priests, sorceresses were not much of a bite for Grubby's massive diverse Orc army of kodos, demolishers, spirit walkers, wind riders and raiders. With higher leveled heroes and a phenomenal macromanagement, Grubby could eliminate InFi from the tournament.
Bye bye, InFi, said Grubby.
Game 5: Grubby vs. suhO @ Centaur Grove
Last game, suhO versus Grubby on Centaur Grove, ends up in a cat-and-mouse play where Grubby's strong Orc army, heavily supported with a Tauren Chieftain with a mana pendant and a greater mana potion takes out InFi's main base piece by piece.
Grubby times the attacks when suhO tries to go for Grubby's expansions, which forces the Night Elf to teleport home. This goes on and on a couple of times, Grubby goes for a double expansion which one of them goes up without suhO razing it. Grubby continues to push, and when the Tree of Eternity goes down in suhO's base, and the unlucky teleportation home for suhO that gets his Demon Hunter trapped behind the altar - the game is as good as over. The real nail in the coffin is when suhO goes for a desperate attack on Grubby's left expansion without much effect. Grubby meets up and after a well-placed shockwave and his many spirit walkers sucking the life out of suhO's druids of the talon, the game ends with a GG from the Chinese Night Elf player.
