After his recent strong performance against Jang “Moon” JaeHo and June “Lyn” Park, Hyeong Ju "Check" Lee was definitely the favorite going into this match. However, being the underdog seemed to have little effect on Daniel “LiiLD.C” Claesson’s game. Coming off a recent 2-0 loss to Dmitriy “Happy” Kostin, LiiL was hungry for a win. The two battled it out in a series of 3 games with LiiLD.C coming out as the victor.

Game One

Map - Ancient Isles

Both players begin standard, opening with Ancient of War creeping. Creeping their Demon Hunters to level 2 before initiating contact with each other. As they both hit tier two, LiiLD.C rushes into Check’s base and forces a Hunters Hall cancellation while putting down a Tree Of Life just outside his base. LiilD.C then proceeds to pick up a Naga, mirrored by Check. The two battle outside the tavern – both manage a few archer kills before Check is forced to teleport just as LiilD.C’s Naga is whittled down to 5hp! LiilD.C is now pumping Druids of the Talon and archers while Check goes for the duel Ancient of Lore’s and bear tech. The two battle once again, this time in Check’s base. LiiLD.C has a clear advantage with a 3-2 hero combo and a slight food difference compared to Check’s 2-1. Bears are exchanged for a few archers. Check’s out of moon juice and is forced to pop health pots. LiilD.C’s naga is then focused and he is forced to teleport. At this point it is clear LiilD.C has it in the bag – He has an expansion up and running, over 20 food advantage and higher hero levels. LiilD.C A-clicks Check's base which is followed by Check typing out – gg!

Game Two

Map – Terenas Stand

The players opening standard once again by creeping the Goblin Lab with their Ancient’s of War followed by creeping out the shops. Check then uses his archer to pull out the creeps in the gold mine to allow him to kill high level wizard creep which drops an ‘Lion Horn Of The Stormwind’ (+1 defense aura). Both hit tier two and level 3 with their Demon Hunter. LiiLD.C then creeps out the Mercenary Camp and picks up a beserker/priest combo and both players once again go for the Naga second. Now, with a 12 food advantage, LiiLD.C rushes into Check’s base looking for an early win by putting down an Ancient Of Wonders and a Ancient of War Check’s base. The two battle it out but with the aid of a Goblin Shredder and the +1 defense aura, Check kills off most of LiiLD.C’s army and manages to get a Naga kill but is forced to teleport right outside his base as his Demon Hunter gets dangerously low. LiiLD.C decides to stick around and as reinforcements arrive, manages to kill Check’s Demon Hunter. Check’s army now reduced to a Goblin Shredder and a Naga is forced to play defense. LiiLD.C pops a Scroll of the Beast and focus fires down two moon wells and an altar with the aid of a Goblin Sapper. At this point it looks as if LiLD.C has this game! Check buys his demon hunter back from the tavern and has his bear tech on the way. LiLD.C grabs a mud golem from the Mercenary camp and puts down two Moonwells in Check’s base and is focusing down buildings one after the other. One Tree of Eternity, Ancient of lore and Moonwell is left standing as bear tech finishes. Check does the only thing he can do at this point and attacks. With the Orb of Venom and bears out damaging the archers check manages to wipe out LiL’s army down to a few archers and his Demon Hunter. Shortly after LiLD.C is forced to flee and Check starts to destroy LiLD.C buildings. With a very large bear army now, Check avoids fighting and goes straight for LiLD.C’s main forcing him to teleport. With the aid of roar LiiLD.C’s tier one based army is no match and he types out – GG! Very good game and a great comeback by Check.

Game Three

Map - Melting Valley

Standard openings once again – Ancient of War creeping followed by both players buying a Dust of Appearance from the shops. As they hit tier two, both players are going for a similar build as in the first game - An early expansion with archers and Druids of the Talon for LiiLD.C while Check goes for duel Ancient of Lore’s and bear tech. Both players pick up a Naga which is followed by a bit of archer blood spilled on both sides outside LiiLD.C’s expansion before Check backs off. In order to buy time for his expansion to kick in, LiiLD.C decides to rush into Check’s base. They fight just outside Check’s base. LiiLD.C loses some archers while Check loses some Druids of the Claw. Both players go for Naga kills but only Check succeeds. Check is forced to cancel his second Ancient of Lore twice during the skirmish. As they hit tier 3, LiiLD.C picks up a Dark Ranger and backs off - Both players go creeping for a while. Check adds Dryads to his army to counter the Dark Rangers skeletons and faerie fire and a Mountain Giant to counter the focus fire. On the other hand, LiiLD.C adds Faerie Dragons to counter the Rejuvenation and techs to tier three, getting the cyclone upgrade. LiiLD.C follows Check’s scent and manages to creep jack him, seeing the huge food difference, Check is forced to teleport. Shortly after, now with an 80 food army LiiLD.C rushes into Check’s base and starts to focus down buildings. For some reason Check continues to creep even though LiiL has an 80 food piercing army cutting through Check’s buildings like a hot knife through butter. Check finally teleports only to have LiiLD.C teleporting back to base avoiding any battle. LiiLD.C stacks up with healing and protection scrolls and moves towards Check’s base for the final battle while Check has none. After a bit of teasing with cyclone, the two finally begin the final battle. LiiLD.C’s armies damage is insane with the focus fire, really takes down Check’s units fast and with the scrolls against no scrolls factor, Check is slowly whittled down to nothing but his Demon Hunter – GG! LiiLD.C takes the set 2-1.
