A new map has been introduced to next season's WC3L mappool. The map is known as "Ancient Isle" and recently ended up 2nd in Blizzard's map contest. This should add quite a fresh touch to the next season.
In Blizzard's map contest, Adam "tehscourge" Wilk entered with his creation called "Ancient Isle". The map ended up top 2 and has caught the attention of the WC3L admins who have decided to use it in the next season. The map has a rather narrow passage in the middle with a tavern. There are two expansion spots guarded by a tough pack of Gnolls. Since they're a fair distance from the main bases, expanding will be difficult. Apart from that there are two Goblin Merchants, two Mercenary Camps and no fountains what so ever.
The introduction of this map will, hopefully, prove to be a success. No greater abuses or flaws have yet been found so it seems to be quite a straight-forward and balanced map. Alot players have criticized the Blizzard mappool and urged tournament and league organisers to stir things up with new maps instead of using the same ones over and over. Let's see what kind of impact this map will have on the WC3L and, perhaps, other WarCraft events.
