Chinese eSports website Replays.net today wrote that according to their sources the World Cyber Games Grand Finals will move to Chengdu, China in 2009.

Chengdu, located in the southwest of China, is the capital of the Sichuan province and a sub-provincial city. Chengdu is also one of the most important economic centers and transportation and communication hubs in China.

The Chinese website tells us that this event will be held in a venue called Tianfu. After doing research it’s most likely that this will be the Tianfu Sunshine Hotel Chengdu, located in the centre of the city. This hotel offers besides several conference halls about 232 luxuriously appointed guestrooms including suites with panoramic views of the city center.

If this is correct, China will be the sixth country that will host a WCG Grand Finals. Cities in South Korea, the United States, Singapore, Italy and Germany already hosted the "Cyber Olympics" before.

Ideally situated within 30 minutes from the Shuangliu International Airport and adjacent to Chengdu's railway station it seems like the perfect location. However so far nothing is confirmed yet. Stay tuned as we keep you up to date.
