While the KODE5 India Finals were originally planned for February 2nd to 3rd, they got moved and were done this weekend with the outcome as not much of a big surprise.
The top 8 from the online Regional Qualifiers played this weekend in Mumbai the KODE5 India warcraft 3 tournament.
The Grand Finals were played between undead player Sagar "DarKboi" Vaishnav, formerly known as SAiNT2k, and orc player Rohit, a player from the in southern part of India located city called Chennai.
Vaishnav, who also represented India at the 2006 ESWC edition and the WCG 2007, showed to possess the bigger lore and came out on top. After the finals, Vaishnav commented to AnimationXpress.com:
“ It feels great to play for India at an international event is a huge responsibility and I will definitely give my best shot. I can’t wait for my "Boyz in Blue" tee shirt.”
The undead from Mumbai, India will represent India in Moscow in May at the KODE5 Grand Finals. Vaishnav said in an interview with the Indian professional gaming portal V-Street.net that although he has no time now for warcraft 3 because he has exams coming u, he plans to practice a lot after he finishes his exams.
“ Mostly I am going to concentrate on my studies and projects and practice less. I will also try to promote Warcraft in Reliance WebWorlds. Also after my exams I will do mass training as I am going to represent India in Moscow for winning Kode5 in India. I am also looking forward for ESWC 08.”
The Indian already gained some international light at the ESWC 2006 and WCG 2007, but whether that’s enough to succeed against the European and Asian top is unlikely.
