GosuGamers caught up with a currently Korea-bound Yoan 'ToD' Merlo after the NiceGameTV match against Lucifer.
ToD tells GosuGamers that he was focused to win, as he always is when he plays.
- I always think I can win my matches, so of course I thought I could win, he says.
ToD was able to win the third and fourth game, both played on the new maps Melting Valley and Snow Drop. The add of the new maps in several tournaments is something he can only be happy about. He also admits that Melting Valley favors Human.
- Nearly all the creeps are piercing, so defend makes Human really strong on that map. It kinda reminds me of Tranquil Path, many easy creeps for Human and easy to expand, he explains.
In the last game, played on Twisted Meadows, Lucifer dominated the field with his massive gargoyles and good expansion timing. When asking ToD about the last game, he laughs and explains it in two ways - with whine mode on and off.
- Haha... In ESWC Masters against Lucifer, I was lucky enough to collect Boots of Elvenskin at my lab, and Evasion for my Archmage at my expansion, needless to say I lost. Today it was Elvenskin + Bootsofspeed which I already had, he says. And then with the whine mode off:
- Lucifer just played better that game anyway, DragonHawks was a pretty bad choice by me, and he countered me perfectly, not only unit wise, but by expanding on island with a nice timing, says ToD.
ToD also tells us that he played this match in Korea, in the American player Shortround's apartment. And he intends to stay in Korea for a while.
- Yeah, for a while, because due to visa complications I had to move away from China, he reveals.
Seeing as the tournament is only single elimination, ToD is eliminated from the tournament.
