There are many ways to receive a penalty point. Scheduling a match too late, announcing the lineup too late, even not using the in-game colors decided by a WC3L official may give you one. If you end up getting three or more, it will have devastating results on the outcome in the end of the season.
Rule XII.a reads that "for every 3 penalty points the clan's score points will be subtracted by one at the end of the regular season." Looking at the rankings we see that six teams have three penalty points or more, which means their score points throughout the season will be subtracted.
wNv-Gaming, the team with most penalty points (6), has received a total of five penalty points for scheduling too late, and another point for the lineup being delayed more than ten minutes. Since wNv-Gaming is at the jumbo spot, they will not be too affected by this.
However, for We Are Go, Mousesports, mTw.PokerRoom, fnatic and DefiningStars, which are all in the playoff/playdown zone, those penalty points may have suffering consequences by the end of the season.
This means that the hunt for the last points will be even more vital. Nothing is clear yet on which teams will play in the playdowns and playoffs until the end of tonight's three matches.

Get 12 penalty points and you're excluded from the WC3L. During the season, wNv has acquired half of that amount, which is the most among all the teams taking part.
