- I played the alpha, the beta and the closed beta. It was a lot of fun and also was planning to play the CPL, unfortunately it got canceled. At the moment I don't play [World in Conflict] since I have too much work with the EPS [ESL Pro Series]. I lost some games and I need to practice WarCraft, says Daniel "Miou" Holthuis in an interview after the group stage in Extreme Masters Los Angeles.
Miou believes that World in Conflict might be come one of the future games in the ESL and other leagues, seeing as it has a big community, tournaments with high prize money.
- It is a good game but different than other RTS games as StarCraft and WarCraft, he says and points out that it does not have to be a bad point.
The German Human player was victorious in Group A, defeating Lyn with 2-0 but also losing to SonKiE with 1-2. Miou explains the key points on why he defeated Lyn:
- In the first map I was scouting and saw him creeping so I went for fast expo and his harass was pretty late. So I got a lot of gold and just massed casters and used Pit Lord as second hero. On second map I went fast creeping and tower rushed, he explains to Carmac in a video interview.
He advanced because of better score difference, with Lyn following Miou as the runner-up. Despite the strong group stage performance, he ended up, just as KiWiKaKi, losing his following two matches and was thereby eliminated from the tournament.
Before the tournament, he said that if he would play an Undead he would lose, if Orc he would win. It turned out he had to play a Human player - Nilknarf. Miou came out short and lost 0-2, to then be shipped off to play his compatriot Hanf in the Loser Bracket. After an intense match series, Miou had to type out in the third game and admit defeat.
