DreamHack Summer 2007 is getting closer with a high speed, and it is now less than a month to the event. As GosuGamers.net is your main source for WarCraft, we hope to be your main source for the DreamHack tournament, since we are its administrators.

As you might be eager to know more about the event - the maps, the rules, the dates and so on, this news post will have it all. As a starter we'd like to welcome you to ask any kind of questions by PM if anything is unclear. There is a link in the end of the news which redirect you to the PM page.

General Information

- The tournament includes both Winner and Loser brackets, which means you're not excluded after losing your first match, but will get the chance to play your way back again from the Loser bracket.

- Best of 3 (BO3) will be played all the way to the grand final, which will be played BO3-BO3, with the player from the Winner bracket having 1-0 in bo3's. However, the Loser bracket will only be in a BO1 format.

- The games will start the second day of the DreamHack event (Sunday 17-06-07) at 12.00 CET.

- In order to sign up for the tournament you need a password, which will be given on spot. To claim it, ask for it in the GosuGamers Area.

Prize money distribution looks like following:
1st place: 20 000,00 SEK (~€2750)
2nd place: 9 000,00 SEK (~€970)
3rd place: 4 000,00 SEK (~€435)

Mappool and How it Works

If not used to playing WarCraft on a tournament level, the mapsystem might be a little tricky. As the winnerbracket is played in a best of three format, there will ofcourse be three different maps to be played in every match. Step by step, this is how you pick your maps:

At first, let us have a shot on the mappool:
Turtle Rock
Twisted Meadows
Terenas Stand
Secret Valley
Echo Isles

Winner Bracket routine:
1. Player one (placed top in the bracket) picks one map to exclude.
2. Player two (bottom in the bracket) picks one map to exclude.
3. Player two choose the startmap.
4. Loser is picking the next map.

Loser Bracket routine:
1. Player one picks one map to exclude.
2. Player two picks two maps to exclude.
3. Player one picks one map to exclude.
4. Player two choose the start map.
