The relegation matches of the sixteenth season of WC3L have been scheduled to take place between Thursday, January 7th and Wednesday January 13th.
The fixtures involve the teams placed second and third in their respective groups. The four winning teams will proceed to the tournament stage together with the four already qualified teams.
The first survival match will oppose the sturdy lineup of World Elite to the Danish Infernal Gamers team. The Chinese team's performance has been overshadowed by the excellent play of MeetYourMakers in Group A, thus being forced to play in the relegation round. On the other hand, iG made profit from the disqualification of STA-Gaming and SK-Gaming in Group B to fill the second place behind Evil Geniuses.
Next, ieS Virtual Gaming, led by the Chinese talented Elf Chenglong 'Sai' Zhou, will take on the high caliber team of Mousesports which holds the fearsome duo made of Huang 'TH000' Xiang and Weiliang 'Fly100%' Lu. Note that the latter will play shoulder to shoulder with 'Sai' under the tag of eHome in the upcoming days. Until then, both stars are in the antipodes.
Reigning champions in Mojawi Gaming satisfied themselves with a third place behind Raptor Gaming and x6tence in Group D despite having a higher win ratio. They will be braving Kim 'ViOlet' DongHwan and Hjalmar 'DowaQ' Högberg from Serious Gaming and are obviously set as favorites.
At last, GaB team and x6tence will be battling for the last qualification spot with interesting players on the ground such as Juan 'VortiX' Moreno Durán from the first team and Roh 'Michael' JinWook from the second.
